The third world war has raged for seven years but this war was not like any in recorded history. Even the men and women who had been fighting would have never believed that this was even possible until the news broke and the first videos from New Orleans were uploaded to the internet of vampires feeding on humans. Even then it still took almost six months for anyone in power to believe that the supernatural had been confirmed.

For the first year after the truth was relieved vampires attempted to convince the world that they were not real as they solidified their power. It was not until the countries of South America and Northern Africa started to close their borders that the worlds super powers had taken notice. By then it was to late to do anything as the vampires stopped hiding. No one is sure who fired the first shot but only a few weeks after the world realized vampires had already consolidated their power the fighting started. It was contained to a few cities on each continent at first but quickly spiraled out of control.

LOCATION: Mexico, Southern Oaxaca.

Jason sat on the edge of the helicopters open side doors his feet resting on its landing skids as they flew low over the water. He and his squad had been behind enemy lines for almost a month but had barely made it back out. They had made it to the non mans land that stretched from the Gulf of Mexico starting in the ruins of Coatzacoalcos and heading almost straight south till it met the pacific ocean. The area was a few kilometers wide. From the air it had looked like someone had run a fleet or bulldozers through the country side but in reality it had been a joint effort between Mexico, American and Canada to carpet bomb the area with napalm the area burning down anything below it. He had been told it had burned for weeks before the North American coalition was able to set up defenses along the line. Now it was patrolled 24/7 by drones from high altitude looking for vamps, werewolves or anything else to attempt to cross the it and get to the jungle on either side.

He was pulled from his thoughts as the water disappeared below them and was replaced by crowded beaches for a few seconds before then were over the city of Salina Cruz. After a few more minutes the helicopters came into land on the edge of a military base that had been set up as a R&R area for soldier coming back form the front lines. As soon as the helicopter touched down Jason stepping off and crouching as he hurried away from the spinning blades above him. He straightened up once he was far enough away but kept walking until there were a few buildings between him and the helicopters. "Alright find some bunks and relax. I will go debrief the general then hopefully we will have some leave before heading back out." As he spoke he felt someone behind him start to lift his kit off his back. Shrugging his arms out of the pack Jason turned to see who had taken the weight off him and gave the man a quick nod before he started jogging away with his rifel slung over his shoulder.

Service in the army had not been his first choice but once Jason as decided on the course of action he had found out quickly that he was good at killing. Good enough that he had been pushed into special forces as quickly as possible. Now while most people did not know him by sight he had seen more than a few blogs and news articles that mentioned him as a hero for humanity. Jason had done everything he could to keep his face out of the press but he was normally recognized at least once each time he came back to base.

Entering the bases HQ he signed in and was escorted deep inside the building to a large command center dominated by screens on each wall and a large map of Central America projected on it. He stood just off to the side of the doors as he waited for the general to summon him. As he waited he let his eyes wander around to room looking to see if there had been any changes made in the last month while he had been away.

A new world order had been created seven years ago. When the world found out about Vampires and then shortly after the entire world practically imploded. The government was no help. Most politicians couldn't wrap their heads around beings that were more powerfully than themselves. Most politicians couldn't fathom the idea of people wielding more power than themselves so they ignored it. Denial seemed to be an incredible force that stopped anyone with perceived power to actually do anything. This left the humans to start their own little pockets of resistance as the vampires grew in power and in numbers. Other supernatural beings stepped out into the light within the next couple of weeks after the vampires. These creatures that revealed themselves were Werewolves, Fey, Shapeshifter's, magic users and much more. Magic users were a special breed. They were humans who possessed the ability to use the five elements and bend them to their will. These elements included Fire, Earth, Water, Wind, and Spirit. The last element was incredibly rare gift.

Avery realized he was a magic user at the tender age of sixteen. His first ability to manifest itself was the spirit element. This element allowed him to use telekinesis, enter others dreams, and with great difficulty to the user he could heal others drawing from his own life force. His first time using his powers ended in destruction of the gym at his local high school. Once news spread of a spirit user many magic users tried to recruit him. Seeing as spirit was the rarest gift to possess while the other four every magic user was able to draw power from. A well known and particular powerful magic user named Lucian succeeded in mentoring the youth and teaching him how to use his abilities to the fullest. Once Avery Mastered his magic he was sent out into the world to use his magic as he saw fit. The military recruited Avery in hopes of protecting the humans from the hordes of vampires that seemed to grow in numbers with each passing second.

That's how the young blonde found himself at military headquarters in Mexico. He watched as people rushed by trying to make it to their next meeting. Groups of soldiers coming off of the planes that took some of their brothers and sisters away from them. People frantically answering telephones and faxes as if their lives depended on it. Avery couldn't help but smile for a moment. For the humans their lives did depend on it. If Avery feared for his life they way these people did he would be working tirelessly as well.

A low ranking solider approached Avery. He stopped in front of him a look of no nonsense on his face. "The general would like to speak with you." He heard a few feet over another low ranking solider telling the man who looked like he had been through hell the same news. "Alright let's get to it then." Avery said a smile on his. He hoped no one could tell how nervous he was. Besides the fighting he did with Lucian Avery had never been in combat before let alone actually fight another human being. He was lead down a hallway before being let into a room where the general resided. He was a man of at least fifty years of age. He was gruff and stern. Looking directly into his eyes Avery moved back a bit.

He could hear the other man enter the room allowing them to finally start whatever meeting the general had planned. "Jason. My good man how was the mission. I'm glad to see you back." He looked at Avery for a moment a flicker of fear on his face. Despite the military reaching out to him people were scared of the abilities of the magic users. No one outside of the users really knew the extent of their powers. "I need you to work with this young man. And by work he's under your care. You make sure he follows orders and does what he needs to do. You're the only man I can trust with this." He stated walking back to his desk. Avery grew slightly annoyed by the fact that the general had barely spoken a word to him.
