The third world war has raged for seven years but this war was not like any in recorded history. Even the men and women who had been fighting would have never believed that this was even possible until the news broke and the first videos from New Orleans were uploaded to the internet of vampires feeding on humans. Even then it still took almost six months for anyone in power to believe that the supernatural had been confirmed.
For the first year after the truth was relieved vampires attempted to convince the world that they were not real as they solidified their power. It was not until the countries of South America and Northern Africa started to close their borders that the worlds super powers had taken notice. By then it was to late to do anything as the vampires stopped hiding. No one is sure who fired the first shot but only a few weeks after the world realized vampires had already consolidated their power the fighting started. It was contained to a few cities on each continent at first but quickly spiraled out of control.
LOCATION: Mexico, Southern Oaxaca.
Jason sat on the edge of the helicopters open side doors his feet resting on its landing skids as they flew low over the water. He and his squad had been behind enemy lines for almost a month but had barely made it back out. They had made it to the non mans land that stretched from the Gulf of Mexico starting in the ruins of Coatzacoalcos and heading almost straight south till it met the pacific ocean. The area was a few kilometers wide. From the air it had looked like someone had run a fleet or bulldozers through the country side but in reality it had been a joint effort between Mexico, American and Canada to carpet bomb the area with napalm the area burning down anything below it. He had been told it had burned for weeks before the North American coalition was able to set up defenses along the line. Now it was patrolled 24/7 by drones from high altitude looking for vamps, werewolves or anything else to attempt to cross the it and get to the jungle on either side.
He was pulled from his thoughts as the water disappeared below them and was replaced by crowded beaches for a few seconds before then were over the city of Salina Cruz. After a few more minutes the helicopters came into land on the edge of a military base that had been set up as a R&R area for soldier coming back form the front lines. As soon as the helicopter touched down Jason stepping off and crouching as he hurried away from the spinning blades above him. He straightened up once he was far enough away but kept walking until there were a few buildings between him and the helicopters. "Alright find some bunks and relax. I will go debrief the general then hopefully we will have some leave before heading back out." As he spoke he felt someone behind him start to lift his kit off his back. Shrugging his arms out of the pack Jason turned to see who had taken the weight off him and gave the man a quick nod before he started jogging away with his rifel slung over his shoulder.
Service in the army had not been his first choice but once Jason as decided on the course of action he had found out quickly that he was good at killing. Good enough that he had been pushed into special forces as quickly as possible. Now while most people did not know him by sight he had seen more than a few blogs and news articles that mentioned him as a hero for humanity. Jason had done everything he could to keep his face out of the press but he was normally recognized at least once each time he came back to base.
Entering the bases HQ he signed in and was escorted deep inside the building to a large command center dominated by screens on each wall and a large map of Central America projected on it. He stood just off to the side of the doors as he waited for the general to summon him. As he waited he let his eyes wander around to room looking to see if there had been any changes made in the last month while he had been away.
