His name is Joseph "Rattlesnake" Van Nix. An immigrant outlaw who escaped persecution over sees, and then fled to the Americas for a second chance. Not to mention that America is proclaimed as the land of opportunity. After a little while on the straight and narrow, Joseph Van Nix reverts to his old ways, starts robbing folks, then he graduates to banks and train cars as his reputation and his posse grows. After a few close run in with the law, he moves further west, and establishes a lawless city called Devil's Alley, where drugs, booze, and sex run rampant, and a person can find anything they want or need there. He becomes famous for the various pet Vipers in his possession, especially Lola, his favorite pet Rattlesnake. He also modified his skin to look like a snakes (maybe an elaborate tattoo) and his long thick strands of Locks have beads on the end that rattle.
When the Vipers Brood (his gang) were keeping to themselves it wasn't that big a problem, seeing as they pretty much policed themselves out in the dessert, and being as wealthy as they were from his brothel, saloon, and hired gun business, he didn't need to rob and kill citizens anymore. That was until a pretty important VIP, wondered into the Devil's Alley one evening and got so drunk and belligerent with one of the girls (or a few) and messed around and killed one (or a few). He was able to sneak out with his detail before anyone could find out at twilight, but I'm the morning when o'l Rattlesnake made his rounds, he found out and now this VIP is in his hit list.
Maybe YC can can catch wind of what Rattlesnake plans to do and goes to stop him, or maybe after I kill this person, a wealthy Oil tycoon, or politician, etc, YC comes after me and my top rated bounty. MC is now the most wanted man in the Americas.
