Sir Sieghart sighed as he hopped off of his horse. He pulled off his helmet and stared at the dark cave ahead of him. Why had he decided to do this Again?
Yesterday
"Please good knight, we desperately require your assistance."
Sieghart raised an eyebrow as he looked up from his mug of ale. This town was small, the Inn was dirty, and the ale was cheap. But he had nowhere to be, and he wasn't expected back at his lord's keep for several moons. He'd have been more than happy to roam for a bit, but then this old man, the mayor of the town by the looks of it, had walked up to him and started pleading for help.
"Please sir, please hear our plea."
Sieghart had to restrain himself from rolling his eyes. He should just ignore the man.
"And how may I help you?" He said, ignoring his own good judgement.
"Well you see, our town normally survives on lumber cut from the forests, but the workers have begun seeing a beast in the woods. They say it's some kind of massive serpent. They tracked it back to a cave in the nearby mountains, but no one dares go in after it."
So, the loggers saw a snake in the woods and now they were spooked? Why wasn't he surprised.
"Please sir, surely a brave knight like yourself is more than capable of slaying this creature."
He should say no. He should just go back to his ale, spend the night, and leave in the morning.
Sieghart shook his head as he walked into the cave.
"I'm a goddamn fool."
