        • Which are your favorite ones and why?
          I'm a big fan of the Final Destination,
          28 Days Later and Saw series.

          What about you guys? Enjoy any of the
          classics? And what's your favorite type
          of horror film?

I'm always up for a good zombie flick. :) The latest one I've seen was Automaton Transfusion, which I have to say was actually kind of funny. Even though I doubt it was meant to be that way, (thanks to a vietnam vetran, an amazing abortion scene, and the main character's weird haircut which actually bothered me through the entire video) it kept me entertained through most of the film. Just thought I'd mention the movie in case someone wanted to see a movie that I don't think is very well know, but I have to say it's not the greatest... I just personally liked it, not many people did.

But if I was asked for a list of my top five favorite movies right now I'd have to go with
1. Saw 1
2. Planet Horror
3. Night of the living dead
4. 28 days later
5. Resident evil degeneration

Sorry if my post doesn't make much sense, I'm half asleep at the moment and unable to focus very well.
 
Not a huge horror fan, myself. But there are a few that I've enjoyed a great deal.

Dead Alive (Peter Jackson's first zombie movie!)

Innocent Blood (an excellent and funny vampire flick that has a bit of bondage sex, so that's fun)

Ginger Snaps (lycanthropy as metaphor for womanhood; first sequel bit, no pun intended, but second was fairly awesome)

The Haunting (definitely NOT The Haunting remake, this one is minimalist, but really scary; it's crazy how much they pull off with just shifting lights and whispery voices)

28 Days Later (damn fine zombie movie)

There are many others, but those are a few that stick out in my head as high quality and favorites...
 
Silent Hill. I love that movie. And I'm not one for horror that much.

And there was another one, I think it was called 13 ghosts.
 
See, I see Shaun as more of a comedy, but you're right, it does have horror elements. So do the Blade movies, but I see them more as action films.

I didn't put any slasher films, because I'm just not into that. And torture porn is also right out, as far as I'm concerned: never saw Hostel or Saw or any of those.
 


        • Ginger Snaps .... what an awesome movie.
          It was hardcore and raw and just amazing.
          It's a Canadian movie, too. I actually haven't
          gotten around to watching Ginger Snaps Back.

          The Resident Evil movies are all awesome,
          I'd have to say that the second one is my
          favorite. I really wish they'd make another
          that's a little more violent and a little more
          gory; you know, to do the game series
          justice!

          I've never seen Silent Hill, I heard it's good.
          Actually I may watch that today.

          What about more ... indie/not very hyped
          horror films? I enjoyed Pontypool. Matrys
          was fucking deliciously gory. And, one of
          my favorite gory films .... Tokyo Gore Police.
          Goatse, I think you may like that one.

          Creepy.

          Final Destination kicks ass. The first one is my favorite.
          I really hope that this fourth one is good. I have
          advanced tickets for it in 3D.

          I'll be angry if it sucks. >: (

        • The latest FD movie looks good, but I won't know til I see it. gothica was kinda creepy. lol. I didn't like the vampire movie that took place in alaska. that one kinda sucked. the new holloween movie looks promising.

You have every right to call me a FwANK on this one, but The Hills Have Eyes 2, Wrong Turn 2: Dead End and virtually all of the Saw films. However, I was aggravated at the end of Saw 5, though. *offers no spoilers*
 
I had seen Tokyo Gore Police on netflix. O: I was thinkin' about checking it out. Maybe I should do that tonight, Dream.

          White Noise was creepy. 13 Ghosts was awesome :]

Oh, God, you people don't recognize props for George Romero? "Land of the Dead," and he also did the original "Night of the Living Dead" in 1968 which frikkin' INTRODUCED the whole concept of gutmuncher zombies (before him, there was only voodoo zombies, which are immensely different beasts). Give the man his credit.

And let me guess, your "Hills Have Eyes" is the recent one, right? Not the '70s exploitation film that kicked off a whole genre?

I'm not one to worry about remakes so too terribly much (I much prefer the American "The Ring" to the original Japanese "Ringu," and I got more of a kick out of the remake of "House on Haunted Hill" than the Vincent Price original), but at least acknowledge the difference!

Okay, I'm sorry, I'm sorry... just... got a bit of the movie buff in me, is all...

'Twasn't so much you, Dream. Cumulative effect, of which you were not even a percentage.

Part of it was having hardly anything listed older than 10 years, and Matthew Lillard being recognized only for his role as Shaggy. Which, yes, probably his best role, but the gigantic crack-monkey was in the first "Scream" too, and was even more horrifying than that in "Hackers" and "Wing Commander."
