Carnegie Casting was the agency to get involved with if you were an up and coming star in New York City in 1955. Whether you wanted to be seen on Broadway, Radio City Music Hall, or 30 Rockefeller Plaza, the agents at Carnegie Casting would make sure that you were the name on people's lips.
On the top floor of the offices at Carnegie, Miles Sterling, president of the company looked out over the Manhattan skyline, sipping a glass of whiskey. A cigarette hung from his other hand, its smoke curling up around the ceiling. He wore a 3 piece suit, and wore it well. Woman wanted to know him and be around him. Men wanted to be him. The world, as it were, was his oyster. But, as Miles watched the sky become dark across the horizon, the oranges and reds of the sunset falling into purples and blues, another day setting on his empire, he knew that he was not in control of his destiny.
Sitting behind him, watching him, was his secretary. And it was she, Miles knew, who was in control.
