The sun was high in the sky as it shined over Queens, and while much of the city was alive with activity, there was one house where the inhabitant was still asleep, if barely so. Peter Parker turned fitfully in his sleep as he recovered from his collapse the day before before his eyes started to open. One arm reached over to grab his glasses and put them on his face, only to be surprised when his vision was blurrier with them on than with them off. "What the heck?" he muttered, before shrugging and making his way out of his room.
Walking down the stairs, Peter found that he was alone in the house, his aunt and uncle having left him a note telling him that they were out for the day, at work and getting groceries respectively, but that their neighbor, and his friend, Gwen Stacy, would be checking in on him after school. Sighing, Peter quickly jumped in the shower, hoping to get at least a little cleaned up before Gwen showed up, unaware of the power that, even now, was growing within him.
