The world of Rem is a world of wonder. A world where brilliant minds work to harness the power of steam to make make the world a better place. A world where entire continents are spanned by a single city giving rise to a collection of powerful city states.
It is also a world of mysticism, for long before the modern age of machines Rem was a world of magic, and there are still those who practice those ancient ways. They are feared and respected by some for their wisdom and power. And others scoff at them, thinking them nothing but relics of a bygone era and their powers nothing but cheap parlor tricks.
Rem is also a world of fragile peace. Greed motivates many to try and bring about war so that they might profit from it. Industrialist scheme in plush sitting rooms and back allies, looking for ways to add to their wealth no matter the cost of human life.
But the High Chancellor of Muir had dedicated his life to preserving this peace and ensuring the corrupt do not get their way. He relies upon two agents to accomplish this task.
One sits at his right hand. To the public she is his trusted advisor, sent out to into the world to act as an ambassador to parlay on behalf of Muir and over see many delicate situations. But what is not known is that she is in truth a sorceress, skilled in the ways of diplomacy and navigating the circles of high society she finds herself in. She is equally skilled in the applications of her magic, fully capable and willing to apply it in the course of her duties when needed.
The other sits at the Chancellor's left hand, steeped in shadows. He is an assassin, silent and skilled, relying on tradition means and a variety of modern gadgets to ply his trade.
Together they have maintained the peace of Muir through negotiation, sabotage, blackmail and assassination. But a new threat lurks on the horizon, a conspiracy vast and ancient. A threat not only to peace but to all existence. And only two agents stand against it.
