What about something like Lord of the Rings but a thousand years before the movies. A Elvin Kingdom breaks up into two Kingdoms after the King dies of a strange accident. His wife died in childbirth after the birth of identical twin daughters. The King in his despair of the death of his wife number remarried and never made it clear who would rule the kingdom after his death. Since the mother died in childbirth alone, it was unclear who was born first and born second.
At the time of the death of the King, both the twin girls grew up to be very wise and very popular in the kingdom. They are now over 500 years old. But, after centuries of building alliance, the Kingdom is evenly divided and the support from other camps with humans, and others are both very equally.
If you like, we can have a number of secondary characters to build the plot and story. As a direct one on one is a little boring if you only have two characters. Building the kingdom and their personal supporters needs a deep understanding of the issues.
