A deep rumbling echoed through the cave, the sound bouncing off the walls that were blackened by heat and smoke. Something deep within the cave had been awakened, and it was not happy. With heavy footsteps, the once-sleeping behemoth dragged himself up through the huge cave that held him. The red glow of the lava had died out, and the cave was only lit by his glowing eyes until at last, he neared the surface.
The side of the mountain practically exploded, sending boulders flying, glowing red-hot from the heat of the flames that had blown away the seal on the cavern. Moving out into the sunlight and fresh air, the giant red beast stretched himself out, letting his loud growls ripple off of the mountains and hills. Groudon was freed at last, and he knew what he had to do. He marched toward the sea, the sun's heat seemingly amplified near him. When he reached one of the sandy beaches that ringed Hoenn, he roared and lifted his hands, making lava bubble up from cracks in the earth, pouring out over the sand and into the water, slowly extending the land out into the ocean. People had fled at the sight of the hulking, muscular monster, most of them aware of the old tales of Groudon, and of his rival.
