In the Moonwood, chasing unicorns.
The three girls were still a bit hazy on the details of their capture. One had been hit on the head. Another paralyzed by magic. The third had simply felt a cloth go over her face from behind and smelled a sweet scent...

They'd awakened in barren stone cells, nude save for wooden collars. A roof and small, high barred window were the only real amenities. At least there was a chamber pot and the meals were full and hardy—if bland.

A few minutes ago, the each girl had found tow others—powerful beauties clad in gloriously skimpy armor—opening the doors to their cell and bringing them out. They were explained that they were to fight for the pleasure of their emperor and his citizens. “Do well,” The girls were told, “and more comfortable quarters await you.”

Each girl was escorted—carried if necessary—to a simple chamber. Equipment even skimpier than the other girls had worm awaited them on armory racks and dressmaker's dummies along with a wash basin and a makeup kit

One of the older girls grinned and teased, “I suggest you gear up. If you're not dressed by the time the games start, you'll just be hauled out onto the sands naked.”

Three individual women, captured by the most devious of methods, would be brought into an arena to fight for the pleasure of an emperor. Was this some new world order that the girls were being sold or enslaved to? Each one was a Paladin and they were from the most diverse of backgrounds. Catarina was an Aasimar, her Amethyst colored eyes being the most easily seen identifier of her Celestial nature. While out on a training mission with the rest of her order, Catarina would be betrayed as best she could tell as all she felt was a large object slam into her head from behind knocking her out cold. Waking up in a stone cell it became clear that she had been captured once the ringing in her ears subsided.

Winona was an archer from the western lands famed for their acumen toward ranged combat. As a Paladin she would almost always be forced to fight in the front with the rest of the rank and file until one day she was separated from the rest of her unit. Taking up a Longbow that she saw laying on the ground, Winona laid waste to the attacking forces only to be overwhelmed and subdued by magic that had paralyzed her body. Being taken prisoner, Winona would find herself sold off in short order and condemned to fight in this profane arena. Not one to bother with tactics, Winona would shoot first and then shoot again.

On a small island continent, Ilona was a protector of the faith and justice. One of the most famed warriors and feared by evildoers all across her lands, Ilona would mete justice at the end of her Falchion. Brute power would see Ilona subdue the most dangerous of evil forces. Soon after religioin was introduced to the continent, Ilona would be the first to become a Paladin sworn to defend both the faith and the people of her continent. Unfortunately soon after religion was discovered, treachery would be found soon after. Simply taken down by a thief in the middle of the night, Ilona would find herself waking up as her head was surrounded by the sweet smell of defeat. Soon after her consciousness was lost, she found herself in a stone cell wearing little more than a wooden collar.

Each of the women would learn their purpose in short order. They would be made to fight and as two guards in the way of rather seductively dressed women would escort them to an armory, where they would be told to gear up in short order. Each would find their weapons of choice waiting for them. The weapons were all masterfully crafted and as each woman would find their weapons and armor of choice. Some were not exactly armor more so than they were display pieces meant to show off the female form, but they would be better off wearing something instead of wearing nothing.

Cat would find herself a breastplate that had a Ruby colored jewel inlaid inbetween the cleavage of the top as well as a small loin cloth that went with it. It was not exactly a modest get up, but it might accidentally protect her once or twice in the battle to come. Looking over her options for weaponry, Cat would settle upon a Longsword and fairly Large Steel Shield as well. If her armor could not help protect her, then maybe hiding behind the sheild would.

Winona would have before her some leather garments and bows. Clearly there had been some research done as Winona would start to test the pull of the various bows around the room. Finding herself a Composite Longbow that seemed to suit her drawing power, Winona would then grab about the first thing she saw to clothe herself in. A Leather Armor set that had a generous amount of material missing as the two pieces were held together by a simple drawstring weaving through the middle. A skirt would accentuate the look and allow Winona the freedom of movement that she enjoyed on the battlefield.

Ilona was taken to a room that had various two handed weapons and she was almost immediately drawn to one of the smallest weapons in a Falchion that reminded her of the homeland she was taken from. Her eyes would scan around as she started to unconsciously test the weight of the weapon and after a few moments Ilona was supremely confident that she had made the right choice. None would stand in her way as she cleaved her path through the battlefield she thought. Looking around at the armor choices, Ilona found a variety of exquisite color options and she would eventually settle on a dark Emerald Breastplate that accentuated her body from head to toe. It would not offer her much in the way of protection, but in her mind that did not matter. If Ilona could strike the first blow, there would be no need to worry about being counterattacked.

Once the women were all settled and had chosen their weapons and armors, it was time to see what they would be up against. Would they be forced to fight a foul creature of some kind or have to engage in some profane bloodsport? All these three women knew was that their destiny would be determined on the battlefield.

Outside, two voices bellowed out a speech—one in common, one in the giant tongue.

“Tonight's closing spectacular, men of the Empire! Three maidens, brand new to our arena, will fight for their virtue. Each is a soldier of our enemy. Each is a unique beauty. And, yes, each is a paladin!

This lead too a roar of hoots and applauds rolling down over the sands from the vastness fo the arena. Cheers in giant, orcish, gobledygook, common, draconic, and more.

With a grind and a clank the cage doors rose...

Cat, Winnie and Ilona would each hear the announcer outside of the doors that lead into the arena. It would seem that they were going to be made to fight in an arena. By the sounds of it they were going to each be fighting against two other paladins? What was this nonsense about fighting for their virtues? At least the women all had something in common. Whoever was running this arena was clearly their enemy. They even announced themselves as such.

Cat would just accept things as they were. If what the announcer said was true, she might be able to sway the other girls into fighting and mounting a bit of an insurrection against their captors. Winnie and Ilona however had other ideas as they would get a little extracurricular activity in. Each one would turn on the two guards that had escorted them into the arena entryway. Winnie would bend down and swing her bow around their knees in an effort to trip the two guards so she could get out of there. Knowing that she was fairly good at running, Winnie felt this was going to be her best bet at flipping the script on whoever was responsible for this arena in the first place.

Ilona was taking a more direct approach as she would try to directly pommel strike one guard and then start to womanhandle the other. If Ilona could ram the second guard into the wall, then she would be free to make a break for it. More of a brawler than anything, Ilona was perfectly capable of dealing with the two guards she thought as she had a weapon. With the perceived advantage, Ilona would try to get the jump on the guards so that she could get out of this mess she currently found herself in.

One of Winnie's captor's yelped as her shapely rear hit the stone. The other girl lunged at the paladin without bothering to draw her club. Before Winnie could bring her bow into line, a word resonated out from the door she'd originally come through. Winnie could see a supple wrist and fair hand reaching through the bars, holding a pork rind. It vanished and she was suddenly fumbling for her bow...

The lithe archer actually managed to hold onto the weapon, but she was still bull rushed around the waist by the other guard. Winnie was shoved a few dozen paces, then went flying out onto the sand...

The crowd roared!

Winnie semed to get the jump on the two guards. Sweeping her bow around she knocked the first guard right on her ass. Before she could spin around to the second guard, Winnie would find herself in a spot of trouble as there was another guard perhaps that had stuck their hands through the grating of the wall behind her. Looking at what was a pork rind or something of the like for just a split second was enough to get Winnie off balance.

The person behind the grating had cast a grease spell which caused Winnie to fumble her bow. Winnie was able to maintain control of her bow but the distraction was enough to allow the second guard to charge right into her and bull rush Winnie backward into the sands of the arena. Taking a look back at the guard, Winnie was going to make that bitch pay once she defeated whatever it was that was waiting for her in the arena.

As Winnie would turn around she would spot another woman already in the arena. Cat would take a step back as they both had initially thought that they were each the enemy of each other, though there was supposed to be a third woman as well Cat thought. Winnie simply drew her bow and was aiming toward Cat likely waiting for a hostile action before firing. Winnie had a code and that was not to fire first unless she knew the enemy. Without being able to Detect Evil, she did not know Cat's intentions as of yet and simply would ready her bow to fire if Cat made a hostile move toward her. Cat seemed to take an equally defensive stance and had her shield at the ready to deflect away the arrows that Winnie would fire her way.

Ilona's target jerked ot the side and took a painful blow to the shoulder, but managed to grab the paladin girl's wrists.

Another girl—an amazonian half giant in a mail bikini—garbed ilona from behind and hefted her bodily into the air.

A moment later, while the audience chuckled quietly at the two paladins staring each other down, third girl was tossed bodily out onto the sand. Her great sword follows, flipping through the bars of the dropped portcullis to spin end over end and quiver in the sand next to her.

On a platform just above the stand, a startlingly intelligent looking etin raised his right hand and pointed to the other side of the sand, “And now, their opponents, the Black Hound Company!!! “

The crowd cheered and clapped, more from the spirit of the event than a great admiration for Black Hound.”

A single portcullis rose. A great black dog trotted out onto the sand, leaving little sizzling droplets of obsidian in his footsteps. Two bugbears—burly and furry with fox like ears—followed. The two men bore longswords and shields with clubs on their belts, the two girls moving behind them, heavy composite bows.

Winnie and Ilona would find their insurrection quelled almost immediately. Though it was likely why they were targeted in the first place, they were fighters and enemies of the Empire coming into power. Ilona would find herself missing with her attempt at striking with the pommel of her falchion. Almost imediately her attempt at trying to overpower the guards was turned against her as Ilona was lifted tossed into the sands of the arena.

Cat and Winnie would notice Ilona rolling along the sand and then watch as her falchion was tossed in from the other side of the closing portcullis. As the three women would stand looking ay each other, Winnie would rotate between aiming at the other two girls as she had no idea what was going on. At least it would not take long for their purpose to be revealed as a two headed monstrosity of an etin would proclaim that the women had opponents who were now being introduced into the arena. Called the "Black Hound" company there was a large dog flanked on each by a bugbear and hobgoblin.

Cat and Ilona would look at each other and came to an almost immediate understanding. Winnie however was a little late to the party when it came to understanding the situation and Cat would point her longsword in the direction of their approaching enemies. "Should point that thing at them, yes?" Cat would quip toward Winnie as Ilona had recovered her Falchion from the dirt finally. As the group would see what they were going to be up against, they would take a bit of time to work out what the lot of them would do. Each of the women had a distinctly different fighting style. Ilona was very aggressive while Cat would fight defensively and Winnie used a bow. Their fighting styles could not be any more dissimilar but Cat and Ilona both agreed that Winnie was likely going to be the one to do the most damage out of the group and they would take up defensive positions that would allow Winnie the best opportunity to shred their opponents before they could close in and take advantage of their numbers.

Cat = 7
Winnie = 4
Ilona = 3

The black dog broke into a run across a hundred feet of sand. Two fowling arrows hissed through the air over the devils' shoulders. One hammered into Winnie just bellow the breasts, the other slammed into her shoulder.

First hit: 10 NL
Second Hit 4 NL

As the other two paladin girls moved up shoulder to shoulder to offer Winnie cover, the hound pulled up short ten feet back. The big, burly bugbears hoofed it across the sands too. Maces and shields at the ready, they leered a the two paladins as they engaged.

This Black Hound Company seemed to be organized and certainly accustomed to fighting in the arena as they took the initiative and Winnie would have two arrows impact her body as she was still trying to figure out who within the lot of them was going to be the leader. At least she could agree on one thing, if the other two were going to essentially block for her, Winnie would let fly as many arrows as she could while the other two women hopefully held off the other attackers.

Cat and Ilona were directly engaged with the two bugbears but the more ominous presence was the hellhound directly behind them. Looking at each other, Cat and Ilona would almost be able to speak without so much as needing to speak to each other. Deciding to step forward, Cat and Ilona would try to use their combined might to take down one enemy if they could. Cat would shift over to her left and attempt to attack while Ilona did the same once Winnie had taken her now clean shot at the bugbear. Trying to swing for damage more so than accuracy Cat would lash out with her longsword while Winnie used her bow and Ilona her Falchion.

Cat - Step to left and Power Attack bugbear on left
Winnie - Lay on Hands: Targetting self. Step to left, Precise, Rapid, Point Blank, Deadly Aim on Bugbear on left with first shot then if it is defeated the hellhound would take the second arrow
Ilona - Step to the left so that she is inbetween the bugbears and facing toward the hellhound behind them, Power Attack bugbear on left if alive or bugbear on right if dead.

Cat: 28/28 HP
Winnie: 16/27 HP
Ilona: 35/35 HP

The rugged goblinoid held up remarkably well under the girls combined assault. He managed to catch an arrow on his shield. He twisted away from a descending falchion which grazed him in the shoulder and blocked a longsword strike so mighty a lesser foe's arm might have strianed.

He did suffer a deep, bloody scratch on his back as an arrows raked across it before twisting away into the sand, deflected by boiled leather.

The bugbear grunted and the two monsters circled Ilona carefully, til they had her precariously surrounded. The big monster's maces rose and fell as they tried to beat down her sword—and her!

The paladin's defense held strong.

Both miss.

The black dog snarled a gout of flame, then leaped at Ilona, managing to sink it's fiery fangs into her arm. The punctures sizzled before it released to prepare for her counter.

22 to hit.
10 lethal damage. (3 of it from fire.)

The archers—hard bodied hobgoblins in tight laced studded leather that didn’t' quite close down the middle—bent back their bows and loosed at Winnie again. One fouling arrow struck her in the thigh, but the other flew wide as the hobgoblin girl tried to avoid hitting her ally.

21 to hit.
7 NL to Winnie

With the paladins trying to figure out how to work together still, Cat would find these opponents difficult to hit as did Ilona. Though it was telling with how they moved around the battlefield. Caterina was the most defensive of the group yet she chose to fight on the outside trying to take on a single enemy. Ilona however was jumping right into the middle of the fray and had found herself exactly where she wanted to be. Now she could take advantage of her power and lay into the enemies in front of her. Winnie was still focusing on trying to lay waste to the enemies in front of her while trying to keep herself positioned where the other archers needed to fire through their own members to attempt to hit her.

Cat: Step to flank left bugbear, Power Attack on left bugbear
Winnie: Step to left to maintain "cover", lay on hands - targetting self. Activate all the abilities and attack left bugbear or right if left dies
Ilona: Lay on hands - targetting self, Step to Cleave right bugbear and hellhound, Power Attack

Cat: 28/28 HP - 0/7 Lay on Hands used
Winnie: 10/27 HP (17 NL damage) - 2/6 Lay on Hands used
Ilona: 29/35 HP (6 Lethal damage) - 1/6 Lay on Hands used

Reeling from the second blow, the bugbear staggered back. As it recovered, it launched a backhand at Cat with it's mace. Cat caught the blow expertly on her shield.

The second monster—after jerking clear of Ilona's blow—brought it's mace down at the great-sword wielder's head as it hopped back in, but Ilona was able to shift herself to where she was able to deflect the mace aside with the pommel of her Falchion.

Ilona wasn't so fortunate a moment later when the Hell Hound snapped at her thigh, ripping her skirt off. Her panties caught fire!

Two more arrows soared over Winnie's head.

16 damage to Ilona.

Ilona was attacked again by the hell hound. This time the hell hound would get a good part of her skirt and tear it away while also setting her panties on fire. Ilona's nethers were exposed as her panties would soon turn to ash. As the crowd started to bellow out their cheers, Ilona would raise one of her arms and use Detect Evil on the hell hound. It pinged as evil and Ilona would immediately call upon Iomedae to smite the foul creature. It was obvious that she was going to try to take the hell hound down as she did not appreciate her skirt being ruined.

Cat would then see what Ilona was doing and take a second to focus on the bugbear that she was engaged with. Another evil aura was detected and Cat's sword would start glowing as she also would activate Smite Evil on the left bugbear. "Winnie, smite that other bugbear" she would declare. Since she was introduced into the arena as a Paladin, along with the other two being paladins, surely the woman with the bow could Smite Evil as well. Winnie would lower her bow for a second and grab her necklace to Smite Evil the remaining bugbear that was engaged with the group at close range.

Ilona and Cat would both be unsuccessful with their attacks, but Winnie would turn the bugbear that she smited into swiss cheese as two arrows struck vital areas and the bugbear would drop immediately to the ground. Hopefully with the small advantage that the Black Hound had in numbers being reduced by one, the Paladin women might be able to pull this off if they could get through the remaining melee attackers.

Cat: 28/28 HP - 0/7 Lay on Hands used (AC 22 vs Bugbear)
Winnie: 10/27 HP (17 NL damage) - 2/6 Lay on Hands used (AC 21 vs Hellhound)
Ilona: 13/35 HP (22 Lethal damage) - 1/6 Lay on Hands used (smite evil used up)

Ilona felt the righteous wrath of heaven flowing into her, causing a subtle gleam to her blade and fire to her blood! Even before she could parry, it seemed the raw pressure of the divine power rolling off of her was pushing it back!

The meaning bugbear snarled in a sudden fury as his shiedbrother's empty husk hit the sand! It rained hard blows on Cat's blade with it's mace, trying to hammer down her guard, but it wasn't making much headway.

With the bugbear dropped, the two hogboglin girls sighted down the length of mace arrows and loosed, but only one came close, whipping Cat's hair up with the force of it's passing.

Cat and the Bugbear seemed to be engaged in a battle to gain control over the other's weapon that she was unable to perform an attack of meaning against the Bugbear. Her attempt to thrust through was easily sidestepped.

Ilona would bring her Falchion up as she was only concerned about her attack, so much so that it was able to catch the hellhound by surprise as she brought the Falchion down upon it. Maybe it was enough to be a fatal blow, but for Ilona all she cared about was destroying the foul creature. With her lower half exposed, Ilona figured the best way to keep her purity intact was to simply eradicate the Hellhound that had ripped her skirt off previously.

Winnie would cause further havoc as she were able to land one of the two arrows she had shot toward the Hellhound. From the looks of it, the hell hound was wounded but still in the fight. Now that the numbers game was starting to look up for the women, it would hopefully be able to stay that way long enough for them to eventually finish off the Bugbear and Hellhound with out further issue.

Cat: 28/28 HP - 0/7 Lay on Hands used (AC 22 vs Bugbear)
Winnie: 10/27 HP (17 NL damage) - 1/6 Lay on Hands used (smite evil used up)
Ilona: 16/35 HP (19 Lethal damage) - 3/6 Lay on Hands used (AC 21 vs Hellhound)
