Elizabeth kept her head down as she dragged her two suitcases out, looking worse for the wear. Not even twenty four hours after speaking to Mrs. Whitehorn and she was fired. Fired. And not even by the Board, but by the new Head of Staff. That had been quick. But with Dr. Vera now being head, it meant the Department of Psychoanalysis's secretary was now Head Secretary, and that left Elizabeth without a job. Sure, she had technically been the secretary for Department X too, but the Head of Staff ran that program as well, so their Head Secretary worked with them. And the only reason the Head of Staff ran Department X was because most of those doctors ran singular experiments of their own, following only under the Head's rules and little else. Hell the newest doctor, Dr. Gregor, didn't even have to follow those rules, reporting directly to the Board.
But none of that information was important to her now. She was unemployed, with a plane ticket in her pocket to take her back home to her family. They were happy to see her, of course. Before she left though she had to hand in her key cards, her name tag, and all belonging to Eternal Peaks, the reception frowning.
"Awe sweetie, they let you go? Sucks when evaluations arrive," she sympathized, "You'd be surprised the amount of sad faces I've seen yesterday and today. They are not holding back. Here hun, I need you to sign this."
She slipped a piece of paper in front of Elizabeth. On it was a contract not to release anything she saw or heard inside the facility. Failure to do so would result in more than just legal action. Elizabeth knew the kind of people who worked here, and she did not want them after her or her family. Signing the papers she handed it back then lifted her bags, murmuring a goodbye as she turned and left. She got as far as the glass door than realized her new dilemma - trying to get the bags outside when she had two many and only too hands.
She was struggling to pry the ehavy glass door open with her back and pull her bags out when a perfectly manicured hand reached out and grabbed one of the bags, lifting it and setting it outside, "Hear dollface, let me help. I got the door."
"Doctor, you don't have to-"
"The girl's trying to get her bags out, and I can do as I please Arnold."
Elizabeth dragged her suitcases out then looked up, eyes widening at the woman who held open the door. She...was a doctor? She wanted to say something but the taller women simply winked and strolled inside, followed by two armed men in suits, obviously her detail from the airport. As the door banged close she felt another pang of grief, wanting to know what was to come if that woman was joining staff, but knowing she never would. Instead she heaved her bags to her car and packed up, knowing today was the last day she'd ever see Eternal Peaks.
