After the dark wars humanity has lost the fight to invading forces, finally it falls under the captivity of an alien force -- the Yardu. They look rather human, except for some distinguishing qualities, such as eyes.. and other things.
While the planet is allowed to govern itself under Yardu law, but the occupying force remains on Earth, and its males often find themselves desiring the human women. Over 1,000 years of intermingling has created a hybrid race of humans - ones that are highly valued by the Yardu because of their abilities such as foresight, mind reading, and intelligence. It is among this hybrid race that one woman, Lila is born. As she reaches adulthood, she is selected as the ambassador from Earth to the Yardu empire. Arriving at the Yardu home world, she is given into the care of one of its leaders, who quickly recognizes her as his mate -- the one he has waited years to meet. Can he win her heart? Or will the ambassador reject her mate and instead focus her energies on freeing Earth from the grasp of the Yardu.
