Dames of Dread had been a fairly successful all-female hard rock/heavy metal group. Their debut album, titled "Against All Odds" had done surprisingly well for their first outing, even if it was swelled in some degree of controversy. The album art having featured a painting of the front woman in an elegant, if raunchy, rapturous embrace with another woman. Their second album, titled "Warrior Princess" had just launched to an even greater number of sales. This album art wasn't much better, featuring the band dressed like barely clothed barbarians, The lead singer and guitarist, operating under the stage name Penny Dreadful, had started the band a couple years prior. Having been thrown out of her home for coming out to her folks, she decided instead to take her musical know how and embrace both her love of metal and her love of women. A number of their songs not being even remotely subtle about the sapphic undertones. Some were beautiful, if dark, love songs. Others were raunchy and perverse. A couple that even directly call out her parents. Penny herself having formed a reputation for taking a lady fan or two on the road during tours.
Now on tour to promote their new album, the band had finally come around full circle. It sure felt good to finally be playing back in their hometown. The black tour bus had been parked behind the concert venue, covered in their new album art, with their band name plastered across the side. Despite their stardom, Penny had refused to hire roadies. She preferred to handle her own equipment. It took a few hours, but finally the stage was properly decorated, their album art hanging like a banner behind the drum stand. After a couple of test songs to make sure that the band and the equipment were in top shape, the show was about to commence. It was both exciting and nerve wracking considering it would be the first time that they did a meet & greet with the fans after the show. Signing merchandise and getting to know the fan base. They had agreed that if they were going to do it, they should do it in their hometown.
Penny stood back stage with her band mates. Her long black hair was neatly brushed behind her head. She had a little war paint on her face, as did her band mates. All of them were leather clad and ready to rock. She could hear the concert hall beginning to fill and the cheering of their fans. The opening act would put on their own stellar show to warm up the crowd before Penny and her Dames of Dread would take the stage.
Finally however, the time had come. Penny took a deep breath before walking out on stage. With the lights off, there was no way that the audience could see them come out. A fog machine began to push a mist across the stage as strobe lights began to flash with each pound of the drums as they tried to rile up the crowd. All at once the rest of the instruments came in and the pillars of fire erupted from the front of the stage, accompanied by a loud and furious yell by Penny. She loved this feeling. They would open with their new single "Homecoming Queen". Unlike it's innocent name, it was about a warrior queen returning from a victorious campaign to celebrate her conquests and enjoy her numerous lovers. The band would play a staggering 20 song set list before the end.
