So, at this point Daniel should have known not to let his retainer "Experiment" on him and his chaos aura, but apparently he wasn't as smart as he liked to think he was.
The short story was that Carmina had wanted to cast some teleportation spell on Daniel to see if she'd finally figured out how to circumvent his aura, which had been a topic of interest for her for some time. So, she cast it, and he disappeared, and he suddenly reappeared in his home to a stunned looking Carmina, but there was something weird about her...
...namely that her breasts were a few sizes larger, and that she seemed fairly surprised to see a scarred up version of Daniel standing before her. She immediately deduced that she, and an alternate-Carmina, had cast the same spell at the same time with the same effect, and the two Daniel's had swapped places.
It took an afternoon of web browsing and conversation between him, Carmina and Danielle to figure out the main differences of the two universes.
Those differences were, categorized simply...:
-Daniel 2's parents had died, but instead of running off to the military, in this universe, Daniel joined the police and became a Supernatural Specialist.
- The Daniel from this world, Daniel 2, was considerably less scarred up, but more or less the same as the one that had showed up.
- Daniel 1 seemed to be a lot less grumpy than Daniel 2, who was pretty much bored with his "Perfect smut world" as he so eloquently put it.
- Daniel 2's world seemed to, more or less, be at peace. Wars were still fought over a lot of stupid shit, but they often devolved into orgies somehow. The only real threat were the supernaturals who preyed on mankind. Speaking off...
- Supernatural people were known and embraced, but there were two "Breeds" of almost every supernatural kind. "True" and "Fake".
- Surgical enhancements and science in general had advanced to insane levels to the point where turning a person into a vampire, werewolf, naga, demon, angel, etc with all of the perks and none of the draw backs was actually possible. Ironically, this prompted a kind of divide for people to differentiate between 'True' and 'Fakes', with the 'True' beings taking pride in what they were. Seemed a lot of their "Problems' stemmed from being hidden from mankind in the past. Go figure.
- Daniel and Danielle were one of the few people who didn't enhance themselves, considering the amount of money they had. Then again, they were rather gorgeous specimens to begin with so they hadn't seen the need.
- Daniel was the Supernatural Specialist Commander or SSC for the region. He basically "Owned" his city and could do whatever he wanted to stop any kind of Supernatural threat if necessary, but was expected to actually show restraint.
So about a week went by with Daniel acclimating himself to his role and to this new world. Thankfully, not a lot had changed, except one thing. His bar, The Soldier's Rest, was now the Officer's Den. He wasn't too happy about that, until he saw that his "Shrine" to his deceased wife didn't exist. When he asked his sister "What happened to Kimiko?" and she responded "Who the hell is Kimiko?" He had to have some level of... relief. She wasn't dead here. That was... that was good.
He got a call in the morning as he got out of bed, yawning and scratching his side as he answered.
"Yeeeeellloo" He said into the phone, the voice of the now familiar dispatch officer filling his ear
"Hey Danneh. Got a call in that some crazed fishwoman is causin' trouble over at the wharf. Apparently she got high on somethin' and got into a shouting match with some tourist. MAybe go down there and see if you can calm her down before she does somethin' silly" She spoke, her voice heavily accented. Probably Irish.
"Right, can do. Tell their... I dunno, mayor? Whoever runs the wharf, tell them I'll be down in twenty once I've showered and whatever" He said before hanging up.
Thirty minutes later he was walking across the long bridge that connect what most humans called "The Wharf" to the shore. He was looking quite a bit like a tourist himself, considering his black hair was pushed back from his gorgeous face, revealing black shades that hid his bright, amber eyes from view. Most SSO's, Supernatural Specialist Officers, tended towards a uniform of some kind while Daniel just liked to go by his own intimidating aura. Apparently in both universes, that hadn't change even a little bit.
At present, DAniel was clad in a black button down, a white undershirt underneath it to give some semblance of modest should he decide to unbutton it. The black jeans that hugged his waist and legs were a bit roomier than needed, primarily to provide mobility, but hugged his taut, rather firm ass nonetheless. A pair of black, shined leather shoes clacked across the tiled walkway as he approached the wharf. Apparently the mermaid in question had at least been forced back to her room where she was kicking up a storm hard enough to actually stir the waters about the 'island'. If this kept up, someone could get hurt.
He was escorted to her room where he pushed the door open and entered, raising an eyebrow as he removed his sunglasses and folded them into his shirt pocket, saying "Hey, fishlady, think you can calm down and talk to me? Maybe tell me what the hell you're throwing a tantrum over before you accidentally hurt someone who doesn't deserve it?". Despite his gruff tone, he was grinning brightly at her, as though he didn't think she was much of a threat.
