General concept: In a high-fantasy setting with monsters (such as DnD) are a group of people called Demon Knights. They make a pact that binds them with a demon of the gender they are allured to, and the demon in general naturally takes on an overtly beautiful and sexy form to the person they are making the pact with in order to seduce them over time. That demon travels with the person normally in a human form but with some non-human trait about them, whether that be a horn, tail, fur, incorrect eyes, or some mixture. Demons can shapeshift (think like Soul Eater) into a single melee weapon that the knight chooses upon making the terms of the pact. A Demon Knight can grow more powerful and skillful with his/her weapon based on how close the connection is between the wielder and the weapon.
Becoming a Demon Knight is rough for some and easy for others. Having a demon as a weapon grants the pact maker with special powers and abilities, and the pact maker also gains super human strength while wielding the demon as a weapon. A telekinetic bond with the Demon exists whether the Demon is in human or weapon form (this does not mean they read each others minds, they project what they say and only that.) The demons always seek to try and corrupt their pact masters, in two manners.
1. Seduction, which should sex ever happen, the pact master's soul is deemed forfeit and will be his weapon's to have in hell when he dies. (Other benefits apply, later explained)
2. Through being the "voice on your shoulder," the demons are constantly tempting their pact master to do what they would find more amusing, until that person's character becomes so in line with that demon that when they die they will go to afterlife and made to serve under that demon.
In general, Blue Knights only become so for grave reasons. Aligning themselves with a demon for a weapon, and opening up the possibility of their soul going straight to an afterlife of servitude for eternity is considered extremely bad, even if it's not entirely known what goes on in the afterlife (though it is suggested each demon has their own kingdom wherein they play ruler and each choose to do what they wish with the souls of the people they earn within it, and may sometimes war with other demons.) As such, most Demon Knights have a strong reason for desiring a demon weapon, though with varrying moral reasons. One person may wish to become someone of reputable power, obtaining a powerful weapon to bully society into his way. Another may seek one to defeat a powerful monster terrorizing his/her village and decide it's worth the risk. They have a serious reason. Your average pervert is not going to just come up and claim a demon weapon to have hot sex all the time with it for the rest of their life in exchange for going to hell, (but their are people that do that, but at great cost, we'll go into that later.)
The strength of super human ability and knowledge of weapon wielding are imparted upon the Demon Knight when he wields his\her weapon. Without it they are often not combat proficient unless they already were before hand. They are, however, extraordinary powerful and have fast reflexes when wielding their weapon, as if they were a master of the weapon. The stronger the bond between the pact maker and the demon, the better they synchronize and the stronger the pact maker becomes.
Their are three ways to increase the bond between pact-maker and demon.
1. Pact Maker Positive bond: One of the two more powerful bonds, the pact maker refuses the influence of their weapon and actually begins to be a voice of morality for the demon he wields. This is rare and often only found in people of great respectable merit, who wield their weapons to do great things in the name of good that in and of themselves are feats worth respecting.
2. Neutral bond: This is the weakest and most common bond. It exists among those people who have done nothing overtly fantastical but have culminated a somewhat mutual or friendly relationship with their demon partner.
3. Demon Positive bond: if the pact maker's mindset begins falling prey to the corruption of the demon, he/she will grow stronger when he/she wields it. However, the demon will have an ever growing influence on his/her pact makers actions, sometimes to the point of taking complete control. This bond can be immediately formed by having sex with the demon thus forfeiting your soul to it. It can then take control of you in your sleep and do with you whatever it wants, including kill you if it just wants to take you right to the afterlife, or continue messing around in the living realm in your body every time you try to sleep. The is why perverts don't just go for fuck-buddy demon weapons. If has a chance to lead to a very short life.
If for, whatever reason, the pact master remains alive he will be fully in tune with his weapon and a master wielder. This often only occurs in knights who have made pacts with demons that would be considered of good alignment, or they want to hang out on the surface world and enjoy striving after the some goal. Sometimes, more cruel demons like to make their pact mate a criminal by night, to make his now unrestful day life a nightmare since he's now a wanted murderer or criminal and must always be on the run. The demon finds amusement in the fallen state of the human.
On Demons: Demon's have numerous and varying personalities, but they are always egocentric at their core. They want their own desires. Including the soul of their pact mate, but they also may want to enjoy time on the surface world and the pleasantries it can provide. There are so many demons that it's considered rare to become granted an opportunity to be in the "living world," so some make their pacts to stay and have fun in the mortal realm rather than just for claiming another soul. Demons are usually highly protective of their pact-mate until they know their soul is theirs, at which point hanging around in the mortal world is the main reason they let their masters live and stick around. Most demons will claim they lead a fair life for their acquired souls in the afterlife, though you can never know for sure. In reality many use souls acquired for menial slave labor in the afterlife or as soldiers against other demon's and their armies. But not all, some demons lead a fair realm out of choice. They are not inherently good or bad, rather they find themselves above such values, craving desires and ideals and simply taking them for what they are. Some Demon's have been known to trick their pact makers into thinking they're good and seducing them only to find out it was a lie.
Some Demon's love human food. Food isn't needed for immortal beings and isn't something they can have in the afterlife realm. The living realm is their one chance to eat actual food if they enjoy it. Some don't enjoy it, but rather look down on it and humans. It varies from demon to demon.
Social Life as a Demon Knight: Demon wielding is generally looked down upon, as many people who have them turn out to become bad, corrupted people in the long run even if they started out with good intentions. Some Demon Knights have become so bad that they run an entire town by brute force, threatening to destroy or kill people if not paid tribute. For this reason sometimes people become Demon Knights for the sheer sake of defeating other powerful tyrannical Demon Knights. Most Demon Knights are also doomed to be single. Demon's themselves are compelled to stay within' 15 feet of their pact maker, so are nearly always in close proximity and appear attractive to the pact maker. Not always good for having another intimate relationship.
God: As such, there appears to be no God, though some believe in one or many. However, none seem to have any actual influence on the world except through shear coincidence, leaving many to believe the demons are the only strong supernatural powers that exist. In truth, their is in fact no God, only the demons, which are more akin to minor Deity's despite their name, and they are the true forces of the supernatural realm and the afterlife.
The afterlife: A realm in which the sky is a constant deep purple with flashes and streaks of green, with fiery balls of light seeming to hang in its heaven instead of stars. Since this is the land of the dead, there is very little in the way of vegetation or crops. Food is nonexistent, as the dead have no need for sustenance. Of greater importance to the deities that reside here are the minerals found in the earth, precious stones and jewels to add to their horde, which directly fuel their power. Many demons set their captured souls to be slaves in the mines, digging for the precious rocks. Others are consigned to bloody combat, in which they can never die. At the end of a battle, a general hour of peace is called, during which a medical group from either side collects the wounded and dismembered. Limbs and wounds are reattached with wires and staple, metal being so abundant in the ground as to be practically useless besides holding things together and building structures. Some claim iron ore it is more common than the dirt once a certain depth is reached in the many mining catacombs of the Demons, wherein it becomes that much harder to dig and and seek out various precious gems. But the dead to not tire, nor have need for sustenance. Without food and drink, the only pleasantry really left to them is sex and sensuality, and some demon's use this to their advantage, keeping harems of both men and women, all beautiful, to reward workers who find great veins of valuable stones or warriors who prove themselves exceptionally competent on the battlefield.
Some demon domains are more generous than others. In some the dead are made to toil away endlessly, and in other they are allotted so many hours of free time and allowed to establish homes and fortifications within their Deity's rule. In each Kingdom their is a Master Wielder, the most prized position for a human in the afterlife. This title is held only by those who are the most adept at wielding their Deity in battle, often taking them right into the battlefield. They are the most proficient of warriors, and often cut through hordes of foot soldiers akin to what you might see a general do in a Warrior's videogame. Though they are rare, with only one per Diety. Managing to kill one is incredibly difficult, and usually only done by rival Master Wielders, though should a common soldier manage to pull it off he may be granted great rewards.
A lucky few artisans and smiths are chosen as stone cutters and metal workers, churning out beautiful works of art. The artisan stone cutters are considered precious by their deities, as it is not often that a smith or a gem cutter has a reason to call upon a demon as a weapon in the surface world and succumbs to the demon to the point their soul is claimed. Sometimes wars are fought between deities not just for the sake of stealing one another's hoards, but also the kidnapping and forced servitude of the gem cutters and metal smiths themselves. As such, most aren't harmed, and live a much better life than the common lot. A few practice teaching promising disciples, with the best teachers often getting to claim full ownership over their students as a reward.
