The Black Orchid was set up and is run by Rose Blackwood, a lesbian english woman in her mid thirties. She started the club ten years ago and despite several attempts by rival clubs to put her out of business, has built it up into one of the most popular night spots in the city.
The ground floor of the club supports a locker room where a punter can stash his or her belongings for a modest fee. The club is always populated with an army of guards who check everyone entering for concealed weapons, drugs, etc. No one has yet been able to smuggle anything inside and there has never been any crime or violent incident in the club in all of its ten year lifespan.
Aside from the locker room is a large dance area, surrounded by tables and chairs, with bars at either end of the area. In the centre of the dance area is a raised stage where acts from all over the world come to perform. The club also has its own army of singers and dancers.
Above and around the stage is a balcony with seats and tables, and on this level are an area of private rooms that can be hired for personal use.
The final level supports a restaurant that serves exotic dishes from all over the world, as well as a set of games rooms and a large chill-out room.
The nightclub is open from 6pm to 6am and is always kept clean.
