"Wha...what happened?" These were the first words the young man spoke as he awoke from what seemed like a dream. His name was Saga, and he was on his way to his classes like any other normal person. There was nothing that really stood out about him. He was of average hight, weight, perhaps above average looks, but there was nothing that stood out about him overall. He could be concidered your average 19 year old high school student. He had no real friends, his parents died when he was young and he generally kept to himself with no real aspirations for the future. In a way, he was the most unimportant man in the world. It was then, the memories flooded back to him like a tidal wave...
Saga was reading a textbook as he was walking along the sidewalk. Something about math or history, he couldn't quite remember. Soon, he was at a crosswalk. Everyone stopped...that was except for him. The young man was too absorbed in his book to see the truck coming. Only when he heard the blaring of the horn and feel the heat of the grill in his face did he realize where he was and what was about to happen to him. After that, a white-hot light shone over his eyes and then nothing. That was until he woke up. Saga found himself fully clothed. He expected there to be signs that he was hit by a truck, but suprisingly, there was nothing, not even a scratch.
That was all for the self examination. It was the surrounding room that Saga was interested in now. The room was quite big, like that of a mansion. Everything was a light shade of grey save for the bedsheets which were black as night. A light wind blew in from an open window. It was day outside, though the young man didn't know if a few hours had passed or a few days...or weeks. Out of curiosity, he decided to get up and look outside. His first few steps were wobbly which indicated, he might have been out for more than a day. But it was a short trip to the window anyways, so it didn't matter.
Saga parted the curtains and gazed outside. What he saw was not of this world. The sky was a bright blue without a cloud to be seen. There was sunlight, but no sun to be seen. And the ground, well, there was none to speak of. Only a still mist that seemed to go on forever in the distance. It was completley empty outside. There were no signs of life. It was so quiet that Saga's breath made a light echo in the emptiness of this world. He backed away slowly and his breaths became deeper. What was going on? What was this place? Was he dead? Alive? Alone? The thoughts raced so wildly through his mind that his whole world began to spin. He collapsed shortly thereafter. It would be quite awhile before he awoke again.
