When the Lines Blur.
To leave it all behind is a rather hard task for anyone that grew up in what is known as a shit hole.
But Vivian did.
It cost her many years of hard work to build up the money, and the four years of schooling and the debt that went along with it. But, by god she pulled herself from the swamp of a life she had lived in so long. Yes, her methods of getting the money to run had been less than proper, but she did it. There was no bad talk that could be said of her. She did it.
With her degree she achieved, also being the first person to graduate high school let alone college in her family, she packed up what little among of things she had into her crap shack of a 1981 Buick in the late of the night. She didn't want her room mates to know she was going and would never be heard from again. She didn't tell her family nor did she tell her friends. Why? Why would she not tell them and fall off the face of the Earth to them? Because she hated her life there....and she wanted something else.
Tossing out her old cellphone, she got a new one while she was on the road. The windows were rolled down and the music blared loudly as she smiled and sang along. She was free. Finally she was free! Her long blonde hair was pulled up in a wild pony tail as it blow in the wind that filled the car and she sped down the interstate. She had put a good five hours between her and her old life. This was a celebration! Large black sunglasses sat on her heart shaped face and cute little nose. While her plump lips were lined with a shimmery red gloss. Even driving down the interstate at 80-90 miles an hour, she caught the attention of other drivers. Even if she didn't notice.
She had forwarded money to her new apartment in Buffalo New York, and had been putting out resumes through her local library for a long time before she left. So, she was hopeful on a job that would be more than what she had been doing. Something that she spent to long to get her degree for. This was a change! Something new. She had gotten an email about coming in for an interview for an assistant position for a large pharmacy mogul. That had been the reason she took off and set her plan into action. She was finally on a new path to life. She was logical enough to know she most likely wouldn't get the job, but it was nice to see her degree had caught the attention of a large company!
The Buffalo City skyline could be seen as the interstate circled around the city and she took the exit ramp. She was here! With only a few days to get comfortable before her big interview. She didnt know a soul in this town, and thats just how she wanted it. She was would make herself, redefine who she was, and make a brand new path!
Pulling into her little apartment complex, on what seemed to not be to bad of an area of town but definitely was a little seedy she hopped out of her car with that grand smile on her face. The day was a warm one in late August, so she wore a pair of torn up and bleach worn jeans that hugged her curves perfectly. With a shirt on over her torso, it gripped her ample chest as the fabric stretched. It was a white shirt that read, “I bite hard.” which was not a lie. Grabbing out her purse she walked into the front doors of the apartment complex. Letting them know who she was, and that she was there to pick up her key to her new place. She spoke with an accent...that she was doing her best to hide, but much to her displeasure one of the attendants at the desk asked where she was from.
“.....Ah, you know, the south.” Was Vivian's only answer before she took her room key and headed out. The front doors to all the apartments were all outside and on the sides of the building. It used to be a two story motel that had been renovated into apartments. As she grabbed out the trash bags filled with her stuff she started up the steps to her room. A few men were outside of their apartment, cooking out and being men....they turned their heads to watch the new, fresh, and sexy meat on her way to her apartment.
“Hey pretty momma.” They cat called, god it was already starting. “You bite hard huh? Wanna come and show me how hard you bite on my cock.”
Vivian had a trash bag tossed over her shoulder as she lifted her glasses to get a good look t the man in the apartment on the ground floor. While him and his friends smiled and hooted with him. She put her glasses back down and started up the steps. “If you wanna keep ya cock, ya best stop talkin to me.” She growled as she walked to her apartment.
“Ooooh, she feisty!” They laughed as she rolled her eyes and unlocked her apartment and walked inside. It wasn't much, but it was her's. She smiled then and tossed her things down. There was a bed, but with no blankets or pillows. An empty dresser, and we set up like an old hotel room. A room in the front with a dresser and a TV on it. A table by the front window with three chairs. Night stands, and wall lights as well an above light. A small bathroom in the back of the room. Taking a deep breath, she tossed her bag down on the bed.
The afternoon passed of her fighting of cat calls from the men and unloading her car. Once it was empty she locked it up. The sun was starting to set and she got herself comfortable at her new place. Ordering pizza, and playing her music loudly as she put everything away and started to make the place her own. Folding and hanging her clothing away, making the bed with her clean sheets, and putting her own decorating things around. A little table cloth on the table by the window, and opening the curtains to let the sun set light into the large front window.
Within the next few days of getting settled in, it was the big day before she knew it. Waking up that morning when her alarm clock went off she sighed and got up. Getting in the shower and ensuring her hair was blow dried and she put loose curls in with her hot hair wand. Then, she dressed for her interview, she had gone through the online interview, passed that. She had her phone interview, passed that, now she was going in for her face to face interview with the man that she would be working for.
As she dressed, she tried to think about what this pharmacy mogul would look like. She figured he was going to be some withered old fart, or a huge bastard. One of the two, she didn't care! As long as she was getting paid!! She laughed to herself as she played some old 90's music rather loudly. 'Lovefool' by the Cardigans as she sang along and put on her black pencil skirt, and little black heels. Fighting with her pretty white bra before she put on her tight and pressed white blouse and buttoned it down and tucked it into her skirt. Oh, she looked like very professional that it made her smiled brightly. Her old work clothing had been the complete opposite of this! She knew this was what she wanted so very badly.
Putting on her make up, going rather light as she knew it was best to know layer it on for an interview like this. She always wore black eye liner, but wore it lighter with some nude shadow. Lining her lips with a pink nude lip color, she smiled at herself in the mirror. Clasping her nice white watch around her wrist, she drummed her manicured nails on the bathroom counter. She wanted a smoke! But, nope, she didn't want to smell like cigarettes. Spraying herself down with her perfume she took a deep breath and left the bathroom. Turning off the lights and grabbed up her car keys. Time to wow....she turned off the music and left the apartment.
The day was bright, warm and sunny just like the day before as she walked down to her car and got in. Using the directions she had gotten before moving she tried to find the building all on her own, but sadly had to ask for directions at least once. Only when she got on the right road did she see a large many storied building in the downtown district of Buffalo, with the words. “Wilson Pharmaceuticals” on the high top of the building. This was is.
Swallowing hard she parked in one of the parking garages near by as the only parking lot for this place was for employees only. As she got out and walked towards the building her blue eyes looked up at how high it went. People busily passing her by, many of them in suits and ties. Talking wildly on their cell phones. This was a brand new world to Vivian. She was truly here, and this wasn't a dream. Only now, that she stood at the steps of this massive building, around people she was nothing like....even if she was dressed like them....did she feel fear. The butterflies of excitement was now snakes in the pit of her stomach. She wasn't going to make this....this wasn't for her...and these people would eat trash like her for dinner!
She could go right now. She could go back to her car and start stripping again. She was good at it, and she knew her way around any underbelly of any city if she had to. She wasn't meant to a white collar life....she was a blue collar girl that escaped the trailer park!
Biting down on her lip she steeled her nerves. She hadn't come all this way for nothing damn it. With a deep breath she stood tall and walked those steps and strode into the building. Some eyes fell on her as she walked inside. Many people were in the lobby, reading or speaking with each other with breakfast. The smell of coffee and bread filled her nose as she noticed there was a cafe here in the bottom floor. But she turned to the receptionist desk. A bright eyed middle aged woman smiled at her.
“Hello! How can I help you today?” She asked and Vivian took a deep breath.
“Hi, My name is Vivian Nesent and I'm here for my interview for the Assistant position.” She said, her voice soft and sweet. As well as trying to hide her accent. The women smiled kindly and nodded.
“Oh! Of course. Take the elevator to floor 95. From there you will meet with Lucy. She is the fill in for the position till someone is hired and she will get you ready to meet with our company president.” Her finger pointed to the elevators at the far end of the lobby and Vivian smiled.
“Thank you for your help.” She then turned, walking straight and proud even though she felt like her legs were shaking. Pressing the up button and the doors opened. Stepping inside, she pressed in the numbers. The large machine started off rather slowly and stopped to pick up a few others that were going up. So, she was slightly crammed in there with people she had no idea who they were, and the place was so big she wasn't sure if they really knew each other either. But when 95 dinged and the doors opened she was one of the only ones left. Stepping out she was in another hallway, but there was an archway that opened to another small lobby area. There was a few chairs that reminded her of a doctors office. Where an older woman sat, and a man that looked to be in his 30's. But at the desk in the room, that sat before a door. Swallowing hard she walked to the desk. But before she could speak the old woman with dyed red hair stopped her.
“You're hear for your interview. Go sit over there and I'll call you in when he is ready.” She ordered, her voice bossy and brisk.
“Ok damn,” Vivian thought, but spoke, “Ok....thank you.” Before she went and took a seat a few feet from the young man in the room with her. All three of them sitting quietly. The feeling of snakes in her stomach started to turn as she waited, listening to the clock tick in the quiet of the room.
“Martha.” Lucy said into the quiet. “He will see you now.”
What seemed like an hours passed before Martha left the office, and left the room. Another thirty minutes passed before Lucy broke the quiet again.
“James. He will see you now.” The young man stood from his place and headed into the office. She heard James tell the man inside hello before the door was shut. God, she wasn't going to get this....this was a waste of time! She shifted in her chair, mentally prepping herself. And hour passed, and James left. Vivian rubbed her hands together, then her name was called.
“Vivian. He will see you now.” Licking her lips, she stood from her place and made sure her skirt was prefect as she walked to the door. Lucy looked her over as she walked by. Her heart was beating quickly as she slowly opened the door and put a bright and beautiful smile.
“Hello Sir, its a pleasure to meet you!” She said, walking into the room and shutting the door like the other two had done. She looked around the office, it was beautiful. Nicely decorated, with a giant window behind the desk that over looked the city. Her heart beat quickly as her eyes fell on the man at the desk. And if she didn't believe in love at first sight before....she did now. Her mouth got dry as she saw the very handsome and suave looking man at the desk. He couldn't have been older than his early or middle 30's and she smiled wide. She didn't move till he invited her to sit. But her heart was now beating hard for a completely different reason. Attempting to keep her mind on the interview at hand.
