1582, it is the Sengoku Jidai, the Age of the Country at War in Japan. The country is split into hundreds of feuding warlords, all trying to become the most powerful warrior in the land so that they might one day claim the title of Shogun. However, that title was once held by a family blessed by the gods that have now fallen into relative obscurity. Most daimiyo even forget this fact and merely seek the title to rule the land. Nobunaga Oda was one such man. After using ruthless tactics and politics to either destroy or remove those who could harm him, he had came within arms reach of unifying the country, and becoming Shogun.
However, one of his most trusted retainers, Mitsuhide Akechi betrayed him and killed him and most of his family at the Honoji Temple in Kyoto. Nobunaga's childhood friend, and commoner turned general, Satoshi Yamazaki received word of the betrayal and turned his army to face Mitsuhide outside Kyoto. Satoshi emerged victorious and Mitsuhide was slain. Having avenged his master and shown his dominance, most of Nobunaga's retainers had flocked to Satoshi's banner and after killing one disloyal retainer and subduing another, he focused his attention on the unification of the country.
Satoshi was painfully aware of his own commoner blood however, and knew that if he was to become Shogun, true Shogun, he would need to claim a tie to one of the families that still had the blood of the gods in them. Luckily, one such family existed in the province of Omi. Sending his massive army forward, Satoshi quickly wiped out the army of Omi and their allies that had stood against him. The entire male line of the family that ruled Omi had been wiped out in battle and now, his army surrounded the castle. How would Asuna, the current head of the household and last remaining true blooded decedent respond to this situation.....
