Captain John Rodgers and his band of mercenaries were the most feared bounty hunters in the bermuda triangle. They had a former US warship the Palisades which they had fitted especially for ship hunting, and crew made up of some of the most ruthless men ever to take to sea. It was the height of the shipping season, and Captain Rodgers had his sights set on finding the Black Widow, and sending her entire crew and Captain to Boston to face the gallows. The price on Captain Black's head was the highest he had ever heard of at 100,000 gold pieces. He was committed to bringing that price as well as the Black widow into his coffers. The ship was a thing of legend and he wanted it for his own.

The black widow and her crew had just made port on a small island. The crew was busy unloading their goods they had taken from a ship about 2 days ago. Once the crew sold their goods they would take their riches and enjoy themselves for a day before the captain ordered them back to the ship.

As the crew played the captain left the ship in search of a contact that has helped in the past to point out their next target. The captain was dressed all in black. Every fetus the captain was hidden. The captain knew there was a bounty and this was the best way to hide when the captain left the ship.

Even though he was paid by the US Navy in the form of bounties, Captain Rodgers was much more at home with the pirates whom he took to Boston Naval Yard in irons. He'd only seen his current adversary once, and then at a great distance. Captain Black was a mysterious character and aptly named. Always dressed in black, and with Rich Long Black locks that fell across the shoulders, the Captain was both iconic and unrecognizable.

Black was known to be nimble and athletic, an expert with a rapier, and able to throw a knife with deadly accuracy at more than 30 yards. Rodgers regretted that he was wanted alive, because it would have given him great satisfaction to be the man that dispatched the Captain. Hearing that the Black Widow was in port in Barbados, Rodgers took the Palisades there that same day, with every intention of confronting and conquering Black.

He captain was about meet with the contact when the black widow approached advising palisades had made port on the island. The captain knew that this was no place for a fight so the captain ordered to get the ship and Amy of the cre he could off the island. The captain knew this was going to be a fight and one that would not be won here. The captain also knew that the whole crew of the palisades would be off the ship it would allow the black widow to leave port, with the captain.

Captain Rodgers was at a table in the "Mullet's Gullet" the favorite tavern for seafaring men when they came to shore. The women their were baudy and disposed to share a favor for a coin or several drinks. For the Captain it was an opportunity to relax and put the hurt on a bottle or sometimes two of the house rum. He was half way through the first when he heard the news that the "widow" had made a touch and go landing in the port. He knew what that meant they had picked up Captain Black and were leaving port in a hurry.
He cancelled leave for the men and sent them scurrying back to the ship for what would be a quick departure. He had no intention of letting the Widow escape.

As the Palisades cast off line he could see the familiar silhouette of the widow crossing the harbor mouth and heading to sea. He ordered a single shot fired at her though he knew it would fall short. He wanted the Widow to know his intentions as he left port under full sail as the sun set.
