Oto (oh toe) was quite happy living his rather solitary life in the Great Wood. He needed little that it did not provide and even that was easily pillaged from the hamlets along its edge. He was an imposing man (though it was not at certain that he was completely human), his size and strength being supernatural. Oto stood 8 ft 5 inches, and if he had had a scale he would have tipped it at over 370 lbs. He made most bears look small. His hair was bright red and his eyes steel blue. He lived in his camp deep in the Great Wood. He kept company only with his Great Horse Thor and Wolf Dog Ashe.

From time to time he was known to take a maiden. While this would be his undoing, it also kept him peaceful. Little did he know that maidens and Elven maiden's where definitely, no where near the same. Oto may have been physically powerful, but he had a naive streak. He was feeling restless that day as he made his way to the village and found himself a beautiful and diminutive young woman. He pulled her onto his horse facing him, straight from her father's arms and disappeared into the forest.

Asha and her father had been talking around the subject of her going to hunt in the Great Wood for days. Neither of them would budge and it was now, standing at the edge, they were having their own standoff. She was ready to hunt and set up traps, the hood of her dark brown cloak resting half up her head, black hair pulled back tight underneath the hood to stay out of her way. Defiance shone in her amber colored eyes as her father grabbed her arms to keep her there. She would hunt today, and that was that. There was burning desire in herself to hunt and get into that wood.

The hoof beats of the great horse only gave them enough warning to turn and look as Oto descended upon her. Her first reaction was to let out a strangled cry of shock, the ground gone beneath her feet. It was only a moment before she fought against him, ducking under his arm and pushing off the horse to slide down. At the speed they were going, she doubted that she would be able to walk away without injury, but it was better than the situation now. The air whistled past her as she looked up at her captor, eyes widening when she took in his size. She'd have to be quick if she could escape; If he could catch her, there was no way she could fight against him.

Oto was unprepared for the resistance as she slid beneath his arm and off the horse. reaching quickly down he caught her shoe, but it slipped from her foot and she fell to the ground rapidly rolling into a ball from the speed of the horse. He turned Thor and headed back after her, jumping to the ground. He was a clumsy runner and he hit the ground hard as he tripped over a log. His head hit a large rock, and he was immediately unconscious. Out like a light.

Asha ducked and rolled, bouncing up and taking off away the way they had gone. She paused when she heard him fall, turning and spotting that Oto had fallen. Her bright eyes regarded him silently, favoring her barefoot to keep it from getting cut on the forest floor. She carefully picked her way back over to where her shoe had been dropped. Pulling it back on, she kept her eyes on Oto. This had to be fate, giving her a second chance.

Backing away, she watched Oto's unconscious body until she could no longer see him. Once he was out of sight, she turned and ran back towards her village. They had gone so deep though, that she had trouble remembering the way back. She paused, trying to get her bearings in the forest. There was a reason the old map had been in her quiver, the quiver that had been dropped at her father's feet when she was grabbed.

Thor was ever the faithful steed. He turned and went to his master's side and nuzzled awake. Oto woke groggily and then groaned holding his pounding head. He remembered his last conscious thought, seeing those ears. Then the lights went out. He climbed aboard Thor's back and headed back home. There would be no maiden tonight. A warm bed would be good enough. That and some wine, and a shoulder of mutton. He stoked the fire. Untied Ashe to stand guard and after eating nearly a whole mutton leg, he swallowed a gallon of ale and collapsed to sleep off his headache.

He would dream of those ears over and over. He rose early ate a whole chicken, and 3 potatoes and half a dozen eggs before getting on his horse in search of her. He would obsess over her till he could hold her in his control.

It was dark by the time Asha stumbled back into the village. Her father was near tears when he caught her when she nearly stumbled. Her legs trembled tiredly and she had cuts on her arms from where she had stumbled in the dark. Her people got her cleaned up and back into her bed. She dreamed of the man-if she could call him that-and the huge horse. When she woke in the morning, her body had nearly finished healing itself. Her back was still sore, but stretching helped that feeling to end. Dressed once more to go out and hunt, she strapped her quiver and bow to her body, not wanting to lose them again. Today she would stay out of the forest, at least until she knew for sure that the man wouldn't come back for her.

That left her to work with the horses they kept around. There was a small filly that she had taken upon herself to work on. The white horse was growing stronger and more confident with time and was becoming her joy. Asha brought the horse to one of the clearings the bordered the Great Woods and mounted the filly, walking her in wide circles around the clearing. Her hair was down today, a small breeze blowing it gently.

Having found the strange maiden at the forest edge before, had spent a hour tracing it edge when she appeared with the small white horse. He reasoned she would be hard to capture when aboard such an agile pony. He hatched a plan to even his odds a bit. He returned to camp an unleashed Ashe. when they retrned to the clearing , he was pleasd to find her still there. As he waited at the clearing's edge., he sent Ashe after the pony. Ashe was agile and quick and an excellent herder . in seconds he was driving the pony toward the forset edge, the elven woman still on its back and protesting.

J ust as they reached the trees, Oto stepped out on Thor and wrapped a huge arm around her waist.

The training was going splendidly well and Asha was pleased at the progress. They had stopped and she was stroking the horse as she grazed when Oto found her again. When Ashe appeared, she tried to load her bow in time to shoot him. The filly squealed in fear, trying to run from Ashe and avoid him. The filly bucked twice, trying to rid herself of Asha and escape the wolfdog. Asha gasped when she saw Oto, eyes widening as she realized what the wolfdog was doing.

"No! She screeched when Oto grabbed her and she fought again, slamming her fists against his arms and clawing at his skin. She writhed, against him, heels kicking Thor's side as well.

As the maiden beat on his arms , she dropped her bow, a crucial mistake. Oto's arm was nearly as big as her waist, and her beating fists had little effect. He tightened his arm like a vice around her. and rode . Her legs and arms flailed like a rag doll. After half hour, they reached camp and he got down. Ashe had driven the pony with them . there was a small cage like a bird cage there and he put her inside and then set about caring for the animals. When he was through he aproached the cage a hungry look in his eyes., more lusty than hungry really. "Well there sweet lady!" he said licking his lips and rubbing his hands together.

Asha fought him the entire way back, cursing herself for having short nails that couldn't scratch as well. Even though her fists did nothing, she still tried, tried with wiggling out from his arm or push up through his arms. The filly whinnied in fear to Asha as she followed, head close to Thor's rump. Inside the cage, she tested the bars, pulling and pushing with all of her weight. The filly stayed on the outskirts of camp, pacing as she tried to stay close to her mistress.

At the look on Oto's face, she took a step back away from him and the door, glaring at him. "Let me go." She snapped at him, fingers balling into fists. There was no way she'd go down without a fight. There was fear in her heart, but she wasn't about to show him that.

Oto seemed amused at her tirade. He smiled and shook the cage until she lost her footing and fell to the floor of the cage. "I haven't hurt you little maiden. Why do you fight me so. You realize you won't be leaving don't you? You couldn't escape if you want to. Try if you like" He opened the cage and sat on a log to watch. Ashe had played this game before, to him she was a toy and he waited excitedly, his tail wagging. He watched the small elf as she eyed the door to the cage.

"What's the matter? does Ashe make you nervous? Even your pony won't take you from here." He laughed and sat back to watch.

Asha glared murder at Oto, some of her hair falling in front of her face. She stood slowly when he opened the door, eyeing both him and Ashe. She recognized the excited look on his face like she had on the faces of dogs they kept around also. This shaggy furred beast was nothing like the long legged sight hounds they had for hunting. "I'm not afraid of the dog." She snapped at him, "You have him trained to keep me here." Even so, she slipped from the cage, watching the dog carefully. The filly whinnied to her and trotted over happily, nuzzling her cheek.

She looked for a branch, a spear, a dagger, anything sharp to help defend herself. If she could scare off the dog, she could possibly escape.

"If you are thinking you will evade Ashe, I wish you luck. He is full bread wolf, no ordinary dog. getting bitten and scratched is part of eating. Its an instinct you don't want to trigger." He called Ashe over. "look at his face" the face was covered with scars. "He got everyone of them killing something. He doesn't fear a little pain. Go on Ashe. have a lick!"

Ashe walked over and backed the little maiden into the cage. "he is a good boy isn't he? Can you cook?"

Asha watched both man and canine with fury and hate, hiding her trembling fingers in the filly's mane. The filly watched the wolf carefully, nose quivering. Asha was forced to take her fingers from the filly's mane and walk back as the wolf came closer. The horse wheeled away and bobbed her head in threat at Ashe.

At the question, she glanced up at Oto, cautious about the question. "Yes." She responded slowly, eyes on him.

"So you cook? then you are good for something! Let her out, Ashe. " he said to the wolf. Ashe backed away. Get your sweet bottom out of there and start peeling these potatoes." He handed her a knife. "don't even think about using that on anything but the potatoes". It won't even penetrate Ashe's fur. Now get busy. He went to the meet rack and un-hung a side of venison and cut off a great chunk. He set it beside her. Cook this with the potatoes.

He poured a large mug of ale for himself and a small goblet for her and set it beside her. "Drink up and try to relax, it will go easier. Trust me. I've done this before. You are a nice enough looking wench. but those ears, they are very strange."

"Lovely. I'm now the cook." Asha spat, taking the knife from him as she stepped out of the cage. The filly nuzzled her hair again and she had to keep herself from shoving the poor horse away. The filly hadn't asked for this to happen and was just trying to make the best of it and stay near someone close. With a huff, she sat next to the potatoes and started peeling. Halfway through the potatoes, she cut up the meat, showing her strength with how easily she could cut and handle the venison chunk. Putting the meat and half the potatoes together, she set to work peeling the rest of the potatoes.

A murderous glare came from her eyes as she regarded Oto's words before going back to the peeling. She stayed silent, jaw set.

"You really are making this hard on yourself" he said. He opened a wood box and took out a chocolate bar, broke off a piece and handed it to her. "You do like chocolate don't you?" he waited for the girl to take it. When she finally did, he smiled and brought her a stool to sit on.
The roast was starting to smell good and he was hungry. "I believe you are a good cook. When the last of the potatoes are in the pot go in the tent and make OUR bed".

Asha was reluctant to take the chocolate, but it wasn't something they had often enough for her to skip. She sniffed the piece carefully, eyes on him as she put it in her mouth and let it melt as she finished peeling. "I'll sleep on the ground." She responded to him declaring the bed 'their' bed. She would too. She didn't want to be anywhere near this barbarian. She finished peeling the potatoes and stood, eyes on him still. There was a fury in her eyes as she watched him, giving him an indication what she would do if she ever got the chance.

" You will sleep when and where II tell you to, and you will make our bed. Your are a guest or a visitig dignatary. You would do well to remember why you are here. Otherwise, I coud just let Ashe have you for a toy. That wouldn't end well. It was clear the girl had a ways to go in adapting to the situation. It had not sunk in yet, why even brave men like her father feared the Great Wood and its keeper.

Though Oto hunted for food, took only what he needed, and wasted nothing. The animals dis not fear him. As he watched the pony , he clucked a little, and it came to him. he reached in his pocket and produced an apple and gently fed the young filly. It knew then, he meant it no harm. He wondered just how long it would take the two legged filly with pointed ears to learn that lesson. For now, he would tolerate her hatred. She would be taught, and learn or be disciplined soon enough. Oto always took time and had patience with females, men however were best to fear ad avoid him at all cost.

Asha scowled, a dark light coming over her face as she did so. Taking orders from others because they were her people, she could do. Having someone else boss her around, she loathed. This was not someone who had gained her respect, nor someone who would have her respect anytime soon. Jaw sent, she walked back to where the bed was and slipped the knife into her tunic pockets. If needed, she'd use the knife. Either on Oto or Ashe, or on herself. An honorable death was better than one of forced servitude.

Carefully, she made the bed and kept an eye on him. Her heart sank when the filly let Oto touch her and accepted the apple. The wild horses of the plains nearby always held onto their wild nature and rarely accepted food from others.

The pony nuzzled Oto's hand looking for another apple. Oto reached in his pocket and produced another but it had a bad spot. He got up and looked for the knife Asha had been using but it wasn't there. He called to her. "Come out here now. I want to talk to you, hurry up." He waited impatiently for her to come to him.
