the Prie'er Empire
They once possessed the largest army on the continent. With the other major powers crippled and Prie'er relatively untouched, Queen Elisif has ordered Prie'er's knights to go and exterminate monsters that threaten the continents citizens. This was not a popular move, and with king Raigar dead Prie'er is in a tense political struggle.
the Theocracy of Rausten
Rausten had made its duty to exterminate monsters throughout the continent. In the fallout of the Demon Kings first invasion the country had been founded by a Valkyrie. Valkyries were holy warriors who came from heaven to seal the Demon King during the first calamity. It was a religious city and the first to go to war when the Demon King re-emerged. It's powerful military had met the Demon Kings army at the battle of shattered oaks and been decimated, leaving the city open to the invasion. The demon king occupied it easily and remained there until Elisif's husband Raigar, and the hero Weiss had sealed him in the Sacred Stones. With the city overrun the remaining citizens flooded out of the country into their neighbor Carcino.
Carcino Republic
Carcino is a republic of merchants and artisans led by a number of merchant houses. Each of these houses hold a few seats on the senate, but they are led by House Dace. Their military is weak and underdeveloped, used primarily for ceremony. They had relied on their neighbor Rausten for protection and devoted themselves completely to commerce. Now the influx of refugees and the numerous losing battles with bands of feral orcs have the city on the edge of collapse.
Asigawa Territory
The Asigawa swamplands belong to a group of cursed humans. The residents are all twisted and deformed men and women with vaguely oriental characteristics. They are intensely xenophobic and kill or enslave anyone who enters their territory. They are ruled by several distinct clans that often fight one another, but unite when face with a greater threat. They are a minor power at best. Their swamp borders the Sea of Ghosts and is often a hiding spot for pirates and smugglers.
