Huffing to herself, the small rabbit took the last dish and set it down a little harshly into the rack, not shattering it, but coming close. Three years of marriage, and it had been always perfect - or close - until about a week ago.
"But we can adopt! It will be just fine, it-"
"No. Absolutely not. No."
Yoni walked away from the now empty sink and into the living room of their cozy apartment. Not too big, but perfect enough for just the two of them. And, in Yoni's mind, one more. She dug around in the pockets of her sweater before pulling out a pack of Marlboro's, lighting up and blowing the smoke away. She knew that Kane didn't like it when she smoked inside, but he wasn't here, and he was pissing her off, anyway. What he didn't know, wouldn't hurt him. Until he came home and smelled it. Yoni got to her feet quickly and opened a window, poking her head out into the darkness.
She knew where he was. Sometimes he would go to the bar after work with his friends and get a few drinks. Of course, Kane always told her beforehand. Kane thought she was being controlling and bitchy, but Yoni wanted to make sure that he was okay. She bent slightly, resting her arms on the sill and gazing into the black abyss. He was staying out a little bit later than usual, and it was beginning to irk her. She chewed on the inside of her cheek as she smoked, hoping he would at least call a cab or have one of his friends bring him home if he was drunk.
Flicking away her spent fag, Yoni dropped herself onto the couch once more, folding one shapely leg over the other and turning on the television. She didn't watch it, but the background noise was nice. Yoni sighed and shut her eyes, allowing her head to droop back onto the cushions. Convincing Kane to have a child with her would probably be more difficult than it was worth.
