Lawrence walked along slowly, feeling happy and rather carefree at the moment. He had finally gotten another badge, and he was feeling good at the moment. His footsteps left little puffs of dust as he walked down the dirt road that ran alongside the shore. The warm sun and the sea breeze were just right too, its like everything was going his way. He smiled and started whistling a cheerful as he continued on his way to the next town.

He had arrived in the Orange Islands about a month ago, and had worked hard to make sure he was ready to take on the four gym leaders here. He was short for his age, being 17 and only about 5' 2", but he thought of himself as being fairly good-looking, with dark brown hair that ran partly down his neck in waves and dangled down over his pale green eyes. He wore a white button-up shirt with a black vest, faded jeans, and black high-top sneakers. A black flat-cap rested on his head and a faded green messenger bag hung from his shoulder. The breeze blew a little harder, ruffling his hair and clothes.

Eva was twenty years old. After the coldness from te north and sinnoh region she really needed a change and the Orange islands were perfect. She stood about 5'3ft tall. Her skin was a bit pale since the weak sun hadn't done much for it. She had long straight snow white hair, reaching to her waist, currently hanging over her shoulder in a braid. Her eyes were somewhat big, almond shaped and a bright blue-green color. Dressed in black jeans and a dark green t-shirt with matching jeans jacket over it. She'd rolled up the sleeves some. She wore a waterproof watch and hiking shoes. She carried a big backpack with her containing everything.

She stopped for a moment when she thought she heard whisteling to hear where it came from and it was steadily getting closer.

Lawrence walked down the road, still whistling cheerfully as he started walking up a sudden steep rise in the road. He was having a great day, and he wondered it was even possible for it to get better than this. As he reached the top of the rise, he saw that there was someone up ahead of him. As he got a bit closer, he saw that it was an extremely attractive girl. His grin got a little wider as he took her in. Her white hair seemed to shimmer slightly as the sun hit it. He whistled a little louder as he slowly approached the newcomer.

Once he had gotten close enough to her, he waved slightly and called out. "Hey there!" he said, smiling at her as stopped in front of her. "Imagine running into someone else out here." He said, sounding as cheerful as he felt.

Eva saw him coming closer. It was a boy, somewhere around the age of sixteen or something. "Not really until I heard you whistle." She replied. "My name's Eva, it's nice to meet you." She said and held her hand out for him to shake. She was guessing he was out here either for the badges or the contests. She was going for both. The badges were not that hard, but the battles were most certainly different. That was a good thing. And usually one or more towns near a gym held a contest too so that was easy going.

He smiled and took her hand. "Nice to meet you Eva, my name's Lawrence." He shook her hand before dropping it. She seemed to be quite the traveler, based on the heavy gear she wore, as opposed to his somewhat more casual look. He also noticed that she was simply stunning, her white hair almost making her seem exotic. He certainly wouldn't mind getting to know her a little better. "So, which way are you headed?" he asked, hoping they had the same destination in mind, after all it would suck for him if she was headed back the way he had just come.

She shook his hand. "I'm heading for the port to catch the boat to the next island. I'm hoping to get my last badge there, what about you?" Eva replied. This guy seemed nice enough and hse'd traveled alone for a long time now. she did like the idea of having a human to talk to instead of just her pokémon If he was heading the same way it could be fun. He was more casual, but that didn't mean he wasn't serious. "How long have you been a pokémon trainer?" she then asked.

"Looks like you're in luck, I happen to be heading to that same island, though I've already gotten two badges." he said, opening his vest to reveal two small shells with round gems on them. "Looking to make it three." he said with a confident grin. It seemed he was in luck, since she was heading the same way as him, he looked forward to the chance to get to know her a little better. "Well, so far its been a little bit over seven years for me, how about you?"

Eva pulled out a small box and opened it. It showed three shells with gems. "Ten. So which pokémon was your first choice?" She asked and put the box away again. "How about we talk while we walk, otherwise we're going to miss the boat." Eva suggested and started walking again at a normal pace. It was still a few miles to the port.

He nodded in agreement and walked alongside her. She was very friendly and she had even been training longer than him. "I'm from Johto Region, so I started out with a Cyndaquil, but right now I specialize in the different evolved forms of evee, I have six of them with me, and I'd keep the other two with me if there was some way that I could.." He was proud of his wide variety of pokemon. "So what about you, what have you got?" He asked.

"Currently I have with me a gyarados, a venusaur, a lucario, a dragonite, a scizor and a gardevoir." Eva said. "Different forms of eevee. That sounds interesting. If I may ask, why did you choose that?" She then asked. The sight was lovely as they continued their path to the port.

He nodded, she had a good selection there. "They are very loyal to their masters, and just one pokemon provides you with a way to get so many others, all different types, which makes them good for all around battling. I have one for whoever I am up against." he said as he walked along beside her in the pleasant sunlight, the breeze blowing the smell of the salt water into his nostrils. "So, do you usually travel on your own like this?" he asked.

"I see, but there are other ways to get pokémon for all round battling. Eevee evolutions are adorable, but they do lack raw power. They can be quick, but so can other pokémon." Eva said. "But they're just tooo adorable aren't they?" She asked and smiled at him. "Usually yes. Every now and again I run into a trainer who goes the same way I do and for a short wile I travel with that person, but mostly alone." She told him. Sometimes she'd been so far of the beaten track she hadn't seen humans in months.

He shrugged, "Just a personal taste I suppose, and yes they are adorable." He was wlling to admit he liked that his pokemon were cute-looking." He listened as she told him about how she usually traveled. "I'm usually the same way, I'm on my own most of the time, but its always nice having a companion every now and then, especially pretty ones." he grinned slightly as they walked along, acting as if he wasn't flirting with her slightly. If she rejected him, he didn't mind much.

"I see." Eva said. So he was already flirting with her? Well that was nothing new. He wouldn't be the first. She wasn't that good at keeping conversations going so said nothing further and continued to walk. The scenery changed from woods to open fields. This meant they were getting close.

They fell into silence for a little while, and Lawrence was slightly disappointed at the lack of reaction to his little compliment. He wasn't going to give up yet, he just had to think of a way to get her talking again and try and catch her interest. He thought about how to restart the conversation when the port came into view way off into the distance. "Looks like we're getting closer." he said, peering down the road, trying to judge how far they had till they arrived at their destination.

"Indeed. I think it's about a mile and a half to go now." Eva replied. She wasn't that good with small talk. she figured they might as well talk about something. "May I ask what kind of strategy you use?" Eva asked, curious as to how he would use the different forms of eevee in battle. Different strategies or a main one with variying types.

He shrugged. "Never been all that good at strategies really, though usually i try to start out with Umbreon or Espeon and wear them down with psychic attacks, lowering their attack or defense strength before sending in one of the others to finish them off while they are weakened." He looked over at her "What about you? got any strategies you like to try?"

"The strategy I use differs with every pokémon. the one they're most suitable for I'll use and train them for." Eva replied. Again a sort of long silence was there. she bought a ticket for the boat and waited for him to buy his. Once aboard they could relax and they might have a battle field there too. It looked like a big ship. But psychic attacks were a pain in the ass alright.
