Background ~
Personality: Ambathevair had always seemed frivolous, in the eyes of the Lords of Lorien and Imladris and the Greenwood. A jester and a nomad at heart, he is always ready with a song or a jest or a story of his adventures. In earlier ages he forsook the great Councils of the Eldar to squander his time on seemingly frivolous tasks. Seeking to reclaim the Orcs, who he says are kin to the Elves. Learning the lore of living things from Radaghast the Brown, and deep secrets of growing things within the borders of Ambaróna, and the philosophies of Men, and the songs of Dwarves. He has not substantially changed, with the changing of the age.
History: The tale of Cyllcalad Anorseron is one of the lesser-known of the songs of the Eldar. It tells a tale of a Sindar lord so fair, that Arien herself grew to love him. Abandoning the vessel of the Sun, she dallied with fair Cyllcalad for the space of three days before returning with a heavy heart to her duties. A year later, the tale tells, he rose with the dawn to find an infant with red-gold hair in his chambers.
The song is not particularly popular, and Ambathervair is one of the few that knows all of the verses. His father insisted.
In his life, Ambathevair has seen wonders. The capture of Sauron, and the corruption of Numenor. The drowning of Numenor and the Changing of the World. He fought the forces of Mordor as part of the Last Alliance of Elves and Men, and again when the forces of Dol Guldur assaulted Lórien thrice in an effort to seize the Great Ring Nenya for Mordor. He has wandered the face of Middle Earth, seeking the lost ruins of Angband in the north, visiting Far Harad in the south, journeying east to the Great Sea and west far beyond the ken of Elves and Men.
It was this love of wandering, and his love and sorrow for the lost kin of the Elves - the twisted, tortured Yrch - that led Ambathevair to linger in the Eastern World when the Eldar withdrew to Valinor. He fully intends to sail into the West one day. But... not today. Not with so much yet to see of the world of men. Not with so much of the lore of plants and animals and stone and soil left unlearned. And not with the Orcs unredeemed from the tortures of Morgoth. But someday.
Family: Cyllcalad Anorseron, father. He was a foundling, raised by his father. Both he and his father claim that Arien herself, the spirit of the Sun, are his mother. He has two half-sisters and a half-brother, but all have sailed into the West. Is he really the child of the Sun? Ask him sometime, and he'll tell you a tale that is both worth hearing and - possibly - true.
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Notable Possessions ~
- One of the grey-green cloaks of Lorien, with a brooch in the form of a green leaf with silver veins, which aids him in hiding from unfriendly eyes. It was a gift, in an earlier Age, from the Lady of Lorien herself.
- A bow of laminated horn, crafted in the fashion of the Haradrim, capable of outdistancing even the strongest bow of yew.
- The points of his arrows are shaped like holly leaves, and the fletching is the feathers of the Grey Jay.
- Ariengail, a long, curved knife forged of a reddish-gold metal that served him well in the battles of the Last Alliance. It grows blood-warm when things that shun the light are near.
