"I don't know about this..." Jessica said. Her feet shifting a little on the stone porch. Her light hazel eyes began to flitter from left to right, taking in the huge white door that stood closed before them. "Come on Jess! This is the first time we've ever been invited to a party and all you want to do is go home!" Her best friend Kate replied. Her voice came out in an annoyed moan, which began to pitch higher towards the end of her sentence. Jessica grimaced, she hated when Kate starting whinging like that. She knew why her best friend was so eager to get inside. The head cheerleader of the school personally inviting you to her house party. That wasn't something that occurred daily. In fact for these two girls, it wasn't even something they had thought would occur in their entire lifetime. Yet there they had been on Friday, minding their own business when the bouncy blonde had come over and given them her address.
Instantly Jessica had been suspicious. She wasn't very popular in school, in fact quite the opposite. She was a smart, quiet and dedicated bookworm type. She didn't talk about celebrity gossip or arrive to school half dressed in revealing clothes. She didn't spend hours on her makeup or styling her hair. When at school, she preferred to concentrate on her work instead of drawing attention to herself. Everyone just saw her as a boring nerd and up until this point she was fairly certain that she was practically invisible. So when herself and her best friend were invited to this party. She couldn't help but wonder if it was all just a trick. "Come on Katie... you don't think they're up to something?" Jess replied. Doubt and nervousness was written all over her face. "You are way too paranoid, come on! Just come inside and take a look around. If you think something's up, we'll leave straight away. I promise!" Kate began pleading.
Jessica gave a sigh and approached the door with some trepidation. "Ok... so what do we do. Knock, ring the bell?" Jess asked. Kate rolled her eyes and took a step forward. "It's a party, you just walk in." She said, before grabbing hold of the golden door handle and marching inside. Jess followed on after her, less enthusiastic as the noise hit her like a tidal wave. Dance music was reverberating off the walls, as the small speakers that were dotted around pumped out the latest chart toppers. Then there was all the man made noise. Teenagers singing, screaming, laughing and shouting. The house was packed full with people running around, dancing, making out and playing games. Jessica, who was only five foot three, tried her best not to get lost in the sea of people as she followed behind Kate. However it was kind of hard when the entire football team towered over her like giants as they pushed past.
If her size was something that allowed her to disappear, than her outfit was what helped her snap straight back into view. There was clearly a pool somewhere, as some girls walked around in bikini tops and shorts. Others had opted for short skirts and strap tops. Whereas the third choice seemed to be short and tight dresses. Everyone was showing skin and attempting to look sexy, everyone except for Jessica of course. A pair of ill fitting jeans rested on her voluptuousness hips, which were all but hidden underneath the layers of clothes. On her torso was a baggy turtle neck and to finish off the horrendous look, were a pair of old boots. Well her and Kate had to walk here and she was damned if she was going to do that in heels! These girls could put themselves through immense pain just to look good if they wanted to, but she'd rather be comfortable. Her entire skin was essentially covered, so it was hard to see her lovely natural tan. Her smooth skin looked like soft caramel, which complimented her long, dark auburn curls very nicely.
Jess found herself being pushed and shoved towards the kitchen. So far the only time people seemed to take notice of her was to silently judge her for what she was wearing. No one had actually spoken to either her or Kate as of yet. That all changed when Zoe, the head cheerleader, spotted them as they entered the kitchen. "You guys made it!" She said, with a bright smile upon her face that seemed as fake as her bleached hair. She ran over and grabbed a pair of cups, passing them to Kate and Jessica. "I saved you two something to drink, enjoy and have fun!" She added, then drifted away to greet her other guests. Jess sniffed at the drink, before putting it back down without a sip. Kate however drank her cup in one go and began wandering off again. "Kate! Kate!" Jessica tried to follow her, but it was so crowded that she ended up tripping and landing on the end of a sofa. "I'm just going to the bathroom." She heard Kate's voice announce. Jess sat herself up and perched on the edge of the seat. "Ok... I'll just wait here..." She replied anxiously, not really paying attention to what was going on around her.
