Night. Cool, crisp, and somewhat silent. That was until he found himself in a big city. He was simply following instinct for the moment, no real clue where he would end up, or when he would get where he was going. He was Leander DeNoir, and he was searching for a certain someone. And what a search it was. He knew no name. No face. No address. No nothing. He just knew that he was getting closer by the second. His instinct told him so. The person he needed to find was near. The hustle and bustle, the lights and sounds of the city were distracting, and made it just a little more difficult to find the person he saught. And yet, he was determined, still. If he had to go door to door, he would. This was a mission that was of utmost priority to him.

Quietly, Leander walked along, his molten gold eyes scanning the crowd. Were any of these people the one? He sighed and ran his hand through his black hair. This was proving to be rather difficult.

Malikyte Macabre sat at a small table by the entrance to a sprawling night club. Him being friends with the owner allowed him VIP access and was allowed to reap all the benefits and move on from his Angel status. But he couldn't do so. Not yet. At the ripe age of seventeen, he couldn't amend himself to indulging the baser and necessary instincts that his fellows did nightly. He seemed to be waiting for something, but he wasn't sure what. It was just a gut feeling. The third woman of the night strode up to his table, her fake breasts put on display along with the rest of her as she fluttered her long lashes at him. She was gorgeous and edible looking, but he wasn't interested. He had no idea why.

But soon she was off in a huff like the other two women he had sent on their merry way towards the club owner, who would definitely indulge them. Running his fingers through his white-blond hair, Malikyte sighed as he looked to the entrance, almost as if whatever destiny awaited him would be walking through that door any minute.

Seconds became minutes, and soon the minutes ticked away into the better part of the hour, and still no sign of the one he sought out. To say Leander was a bit bothered was an understatement. Infact, he was bothered enough that he had absently walked into the midst of a street fight. The participants didn't take so kindly to his intrusion, and so he had just spent a good five minutes that could have been better used, beating the living shit out of the jackasses who dared to act as obstacles to his goal. However, giving thugs the beatdown was thristy work, and soon he decided to enter a nearby club for just a brief drink. For just a brief second, that special other person wasn't on his mind... That was until he opened the door and then stepped foot in the club.

Not but a second later his senses went wild. He could smell the person. Hear their heart beating apart from the other people in the club. The color around him seemed to fade to gray. His wide eyes scanned the crowd, and startlingly, were able to settle on just one being, still in color. In that instant that those gray eyes settled on the other male's form, things shifted back to normal. The color in his world came back, and his senses settled. Now he knew. So that was what it was like seeing your partner for the first time.

Leander took a deep breath, and casually made his way to the small table. There, he sat. He hoped to every force in heaven and hell that this male would feel the connection, otherwise, this would be quite awkward. He cleared his voice. "Errr, hello... Nice... Nice night?" He asked, hoping to subtly seguey into the revelation he was about to make to this guy with idle banter.

When Leander finally made his way to the club and through the doors, Malikyte felt his heart stop as time slowed to a crawl. The sensation was strange and almost uncomfortable as his breath left him. Who was this guy? This...Devil his mind provided for him as it shook off the sensation. He was just attractive, that was all. One of the most attractive men Malikyte had ever seen, but that was all. There was nothing else there, just...attraction. And just like that, the Devil walked up to him and Malikyte tipped his head, amber brown eyes looking up at the other male. He was so much more up close, almost overwhelming. But he found himself eager for something, anything, though with trepidation. He couldn't just hand himself over, now could he?

As the words, he found himself frowning in the slightest. The man's voice was smooth and velvety, like silk to his ears. He brushed some hair out of his eyes as he shrugged his shoulders and looked away from the man's face.

"Yes, I suppose it is a good night. What brings you to this club? I haven't seen you before."

Leander took a few subtle breaths. Okay, good. He hadn't creeped him out with the sudden random conversation. Great. That was a step in the right direction. But now he noticed a rather prominent feeling nagging at him. Leander's golden eyes scanned over the light looking guy before him, and he felt a sort of primative desire washing over him. A certain possessiveness that it seemed much, much too early for. Something in him said that the next person to approach this boy was going to find themselves in a world of hurt, pain, and ouch. Quickly, Leander shook his head. His mentor hadn't told him just exactly what this all would be like, and so he found that he was constantly left surprised by the reactions he had to just being in Malikyte's presence.

He noticed Malikyte frown and hoped he hadn't done something wrong. "Errr, right... Well, I was just walking through town, and I got thirsty, so I came in here." He explained. It wasn't really a lie, because getting a drink had been the original intent. But having found him, drinks were the farthest thing from Leander's muttled, and somewhat confused mind.

"Soooo, I'm Leander." Leander introduced, figuring it would be a good way to break the ice. He waited for the male before him to give a name in response, though somewhere inside, he had a sneaking suspicion that he knew the name attacked to him.

"Well, I can order your drink, if you like. I have connections here."

Malikyte said with an off-handed shrug as he found himself checking the man over, starting at his feet and working his way up. His cheeks were an adorable pink by the time he made it up to Leander's chest. But by then, he was distracted anew as Leander said his name with such richness that Malikyte was hooked by the words that were spoken to him. Even though the Devil sounded unsure of himself, there was something else to his voice, almost like...he wanted to possessive him. He wasn't sure why he thought of that, or why his body heated further at the thought of possession, but it did. But he shoved those estranged emotions to the back of his mind.

"Leander..."

He said softly, rolling the name around in his mouth as it rolled off his tongue. He liked the way it sounded, and practically tasted it in his mouth like a sweet candy treat. Blushing anew, he looking up at Leander with a soft, reluctant smile as he voiced his own name.

"I'm Malikyte. Nice to meet you, Leander."

Tempting as it was, Leander turned down the offer. "Nah. I don't feel right about it." He said.

In truth he would much rather have done for Malikyte, rather than having Malikyte pull strings for him. He could feel the younger male's eyes tracing along his body, taking his shape in. Leander glanced at him and noticed the flush rising in Malikyte's cheeks. Something about that sent a slight jolt up his spine, and brought back those primative carnal naggings at the edge of his mind. Something was so innocent about him, if he really started to blushing, just looking at Leander. Accompanying that carnal nag was something else. A swell of pride. That he could conquer his partner's attention just by his form and existance, left a Leander feeling a swell of pride from within. He watched as Malikyte flushed a little more. Just a brief glimpse of what made the male blush flashed in Leander's mind, and suddenly he wanted to take Malikyte and do the darkest things he could imagine to him.

However, Malikyte's softly spoken rendition of his name pulled Leander back to the mortal planes of existance. That sweet smile upon such a soft and pure face, proved to bring a warmth to Leander. "A pleasure you meet you." He said with a dazzling grin. Suddenly he felt calm again. But still a little protective. Any grown being the the ability to be so sweet and innocent was bound to have people willing to try and taint him.

"So, I assume since you have some connections here, you visit here often, right?" He asked, feeling a bit less on edge.

"Yes, the owner is a friend of mine. My older brother and him were best friends growing up."

He replied with a hint of pride. His elder brother, who was away on some business or another. Their mother would have been so proud. At the thought, he felt his heart wilting before he mentally shook himself and perked up in the slightest. The grin on Leander's face did things to him that he didn't necessarily like but didn't seem to have any control over. It put him a little on edge that he could be affected in such a way. Putting up some guard against Leander seemed impossible, but somehow he managed.

"You seem...new to the city. But, you seem sort of familiar.."

Malikyte said without much thought, his instincts and strange sensations being put in the form of words as he focused on Leander's face as though to place him somewhere. But nothing came to mind. He had never seen the Devil before in his life. It made him wonder why the male had shown up here, at this very club on this very day. It seemed like Fate was playing with him again.

Leander listened, keeping the dashing grin on his face as Malikyte explained his connection to the owner.

However, that grin faded a bit when he felt a strange darkness just loom briefly over the angel's heart. It bothered him, even though they had just met. He watched as Malikyte brought himself out of his reveries and cheered up a little bit. Okay. Good. But he still seemed quite tense. Like he didn't want to be at ease around Leander. Well, Leander hoped that wasn't a permanent affliction, or their partnership would have more than a few obstacles to overcome. That was something he did not want.

The he heard the teen speak up again. Leander lightly chuckled. Time to explain things.

"Ah, so you noticed. Good. It would be a little difficult if you hadn't... I am new to this city..." He explained. "But... We aren't convential strangers... I seem familiar for a reason." He added. "You see, the duties of devils and angels are to control the good and the bad... But we must do so in balance, and hence, we are paired up... It just so happens that you and I are destined to be partners." He finished, very calmly considering the nature of his revelation.

Amber brown eyes widened as the Angel listened to Leander speak. He blinked a few times as though in disbelief, and in disbelief he was. He seemed far-fetched, but most people would think the same of Angels and Devils being living and breathing creatures. He bit his lip, confusion and a guarded expression flitting over his face as Malikyte drank in the explanation. He didn't know exactly how to handle it or how to voice his opinion. But slowly, he found a question escaping him.

"How...exactly...do they do that?"

The Angel felt his instincts rebelling against the Devil's words, feeling like his innocence might be in danger. And the more he looked at Leander, the more he had the fear of falling. His fists clenched in his lap as he brought his emotions under control, feeling as though he might be broadcasting what he felt. He would see random images come from Leander that stirred his blood, but he would never, ever, engage in those kind of things. Right?

Leander could feel his own mind and body tense as Malikyte gave a negative response. Damnit. Not what he had hoped for. Of course what Leander had hoped for, and what he had expected were two very different things, and Malikyte's reaction was right up the alley he had expected it to be. He watched as the lip-biting, confusion, and defensiveness set in. Even if Malikyte hadn't been so obvious in his response, Leander would have known by the state of mind he was in. And then the question came.

"No one really knows... It just happens. We are born and drawn to one another when first we meet." He explained.

Leander could feel even more tenseness from the young angel. He could see his worries, and a somewhat sad frown crossed over his face. "Listen to me and know that no matter what your fears, your innocence is safe in my hands...." He said, softly and soothingly. "I know what you're seeing when you look into my mind... But thoughts and actions are two very different things... I won't lie and say there are no urges, but I won't act on them, because part of my duty is to protect your well being..."

Why not? He almost wanted to ask. But he tramped the question down. What was he thinking? He didn't know this male, knew basically nothing about him. But he felt himself wanting to know everything, but with that same trepidation, he didn't want to learn a thing. He was afraid and reluctant, his innocence severely shining through. He didn't know if he was ready for something like this, something so altering. And it wasn't like he had control over some of the things he could do, like view images from people's minds. And he blushed as Leander spoke so calmly about it. But then again, Leander was a Devil...and had probably experienced so many things...

"Well, good."

He said at last, seeming a little less defensive and more open, though with the sarcasm that most innocent children possessed.

"My dad would be very mad if I lost my wings, even though I'm not all that young."

Leander chuckled a little at the statement made by Leander about his father. That was in true angel style. Worrying about what your elders thought of your change. "He can't say much as he is a devil too... How else were you created?" He lightly teased the angel. But then his face took a sterner setting. "But none the less, what you saw in my mind... It stays in my mind until you are old enough, and actually want it." He said calmly. His index finger traced small circles on the table top as he looked Malikyte in the eye. "Your innocence is safe with me... I'm quite able control myself, I'll have you know..." He added. He looked quite serious too. It seemed Malikyte's innocence was as big a deal to Leander as it was to him.

He knew it would take some work to get the angel to trust him, but damnit, he was determined. He found himself so very drawn to Malikyte. The moment Leander had walked through that door, he had sealed his own fate. Her was as good as a loyal puppy to Malikyte now. He would do almost anything asked of him by Malikyte, just so long as it didn't risk Malikyte's well being or innocence.

His face flushed with indignation at the statement made by Leander. Of course he knew his dad was a Devil! He wasn't stupid. He crossed his arms as he stared at Leander and listened to the Devil speak more about the situation at hand. He softened in the slightest, still tense and wary as the elder man spoke about his innocence. Brushing away some of his hair that fell into his line of sight, Malikyte wondered how the two of them had gotten paired up. Who was the one to decide all of this? He certainly wanted to know. He hadn't been told of this partnership until now and he was still skeptical of the whole thing. He didn't know if he wanted to partner with the handsome Devil, but it seemed like he didn't have a choice except to deny the whole thing.

Malikyte's attention was grabbed by a small gaggle of girls staring at the two of them with longing and lust, which made him shiver uncomfortably. This was why he didn't stay too long at the club. Ever. Looking at Leander and then his watch, he realized he should probably head on home...despite what probably awaited him there. He tensed up before forcing himself to relax as he looked up at Leander, the Devil being a couple inches taller.

"I should...probably go."

He sounded reluctant but also desperate to leave the club.

He grinned watching Malikyte flush so easily. He was cute when he was indignant. "Just pointing out a reason why your father can't be too hard on me for anything..." He said with a chuckle. "You do realize you can calm down. I'm not about to pin and rape you. I told you, you're safe with me." He promised again. He hoped someday the angel would get that and trust him. He noted that Malikyte's tense disposition had slackened some. Good. "I know what you're thinking. This is all strange. I felt the same way when I discovered this situation for my own... But I don't think it's a bad thing..." He said, quietly. "Who knows how we got matched up, but I've been waiting for you for a while now. The best we can do is make this pleasant for one another." He added.

Then Leander noticed to gaggle of giggling girls. The lust was pouring off of them in waves. It made him shudder a bit, which really surprised him. Usually, it intrigued him when people took interest in him. But he realized now that he didn't want anything to do with these girls, physically or otherwise. He watched Leander tense up once more, then try and calm himself as he looked up at Leander. He disliked these girls from making Malikyte uncomfortable, and cutting their talk time.

"Right..." Leander said when Malikyte said he should go.

He could tell that the younger angel was at a crossroads about leaving the club. "Allow me to escort you home?" He offered as gentlemanly as he could.

"Trust me, he's hard on anyone..for whatever reason.."

He said with a little bit of sadness as he swallowed and backed up a bit. Some of the girls had edged closer, but there were a few more of them now and it was eerie how they looked at them. They were probably wondering who Leander was, since Malikyte was a regular at the club and he had seen some of the women before. But it was still strange and made him tug slightly at his collar as it if were suddenly too hot in the room. Hearing Leander's offer, he looked between the doors and the Devil and decided that he didn't mind being escorted back home. It wasn't like Leander would do anything perverted...

"Sure...let's go."

He led the way towards the door, nodding to the bouncers as he made his escape with Leander in tow. Once outside, he took a deep breath of fresh air and seemed to relax further, as if he was back in his element. The light breeze ruffled his hair and clothes, invisible fingers playing with the white-blond strands as he sighed and peered at the star-flecked sky.

"Well, that wasn't very assuring at all. He felt like a high school kid, having to impress a potential date's father.

Then the girls started moving in. Any closer and he'd have to push them back by force. It made Malikyte uncomfortable, and so, that had to be stopped. He could feelt their questioning gazes upon him, wandering who the hell he was, and why the hell he was so close to what they deemed a prize. He could tell Malikyte was getting more and more uncomfortable, and he could also tell that the angel was definitely considering his offer to escort him home. Okay, so those girls were useful for something. Still, they needed to stop creeping Malikyte out. He glanced at the angel once more, hoping for an answer, and it seemed as if Malikyte had finished deliberating.

"Good." He said when the answer came affirmative.

Leander followed him closely as they made it out the door. His was still on alert though, lest they get more unwanted suitors for the poor angel. Then finally they were outside. Good. Leander took a deep breath along with Malikyte, the glanced at him as he looked to the stars. Just seeing him, eyes to the skies, and the wind playing in his hair, made the angel's image so picturesque. He almost hated to break the silence. "So... Do you walk, drive, or fly?" He asked.

"Oh, I walked. I don't tend to fly unless I'm alone."

He said with a delicate shrug as he looked back at Leander. Malikyte felt odd stirrings in his blood again before he shook then off and started walking towards his house. It would be a rather long walk, but at least it would give him time to sort things out and learn what this whole pairing thing and whatnot was about. His father had never talked to him about things like this, but his brother had...saying it was almost like a secret pact that few knew about. He wondered if that were true or if he was just one of the few who had been left in the dark about these certain things.

"So..we're paired? What does that mean exactly?"

He asked after a few moments of silence, not sure what else there was to talk about.
