Michael got into his car and began to drive to the orphanage where he was going to pick up his newly adopted daughter. He pulled on to the highway and began his hour long drive to get her. Her name was ------------- and he had plans for her. He knew she was only 15, but in the vampire society she was an adult. And he intended to treat her has such he noticed the trees changing as he drove past them. He could have ran there faster than he could drive, but then it would require him to do a bit of explaining of why he didn’t bring a car. So he took the more human way of doing things. He looked up to see the full moon tonight, he could see the moon in a higher definition than any screen would be capable of producing. He could see the flag that was planted there by the astronauts. He saw its stillness in the vacuum of space. He focused his eyes back on the road and turned on the radio. It was playing some rock band and he let it replace the silence in the car. He finally reached his destination and pulled up to park in a vacant spot. He got out of the car and made sure no one was watching before he used his enhanced speed to reach the door in under a nanosecond. He walked in to see little ----- sitting in a chair with her stuff sitting next to her as were two adults who he assumed were the social worker and the orphanage owner.
He walked up and greeting them both and put on a smile to show his enthusiasm about adopting ------. He kept his eyes focused on her as they talked to him about his responsibilities and such. They asked him he was sure he wanted to waive his right to the 600 dollars a month to provide for her. He replied calmly stating that he could easily take care of her on his own earnings. Finally he signed the last paper and they walked up to ------ and informed her that she was going to have a new home. He grabbed her bags and held them as she said goodbye to the two adults before walking up to him and telling him she was ready to go. He walked with her to the car and placed her bags in the trunk. Before returning to the driver’s seat and pulling out of the orphanage, but it wasn’t until 20 minutes into the drive home that she spoke to him.
