It has been over a century since the magical world of Vanar forcibly merged with Earth for a short period of time. In the aftermath of the short merger dragons and the host of mythical creatures left behind did war with the worlds armies, destroying vast swathes of land, while other countries were destroyed with nary a gunshot, due to the power and versatility of magic. While some guns and advanced technology survived, most of it was lost as weapon caches and nuclear arsenals detonated, or as the remaining gear was snatched up by scavengers, raiders, and technology hoarders. The humans managed to win the war...but only barely, launching every nuclear weapon they could at the strongest creatures, obliterating them but at terrible cost to some areas. In the years directly following this world shaking event, the world was swarmed with large raiding parties of magical creatures, though through attrition they are no longer as common as they used to be. In the century that followed, the surviving start to exhibit some of the same strange powers that those who destroyed much of their world. Others discovered the presence of true gods, and gained a sliver of their divine might, which helped to combat disease and death among their ranks. After this cities, towns and villages have started to thrive again, with some being more well off than others, driven my new magical discoveries. In the last few years trade has finally started back up, and communication between the various communities is at an all time high. The paranoia against some of the magical races has started to subside as well, and no longer are they treated as destructive invaders trying to destroy the last remnants of earth. The humans of earth eventually intermingled with those from the world of Vanar. The world has become largely dominated by men, with male leaders ruling over most communities, and the women forced into submissive, ranging from second class citizens to pure property. This is mostly a result of Vanar's culture, where men rule over women with impunity, and of course when the earthling human men found out about this, they were often happy to come aboard with the idea. Earth was renamed Andrus after a while, the remnants of Vanar naming it after one of their core gods, the god of male superiority. Slavery is common, and nonhumans are becoming more in demand by the day. Not everyone has the same philosophies however, as some of the remaining communities are lead by powerful women, keeping their control with an iron fist, and usually a deep hatred of mankind. One of these amazonian communities, that call themselves the Sisters of the Future, who are among the most technologically advanced in the world due to their hoarding of power armor and guns, leaving such things to be very very rare commodities indeed.
During the last ten years the city of Galenzrock, built into a large mountain to protect it from raiders and other hazards, has prospered. Being in between several towns and cities has made it a good stop on trade routes now that the orcish raiders are somewhat less common, along with some cunning leadership decisions by the elder and his son. They manage to stay mostly independent by serving as a rest stop for caravans, as well as supporting themselves on the crops they grow and their herds within the mountain.
The son of the elder, Shadar Galenzra, started demonstrating magic ability at a young age, but had little control over it until find a thick leather and steel bound tome in a grave while scavenging, and spending a few years going over it as he attempted to learn from it, eventually mastering it, making his way on the path to become a truly powerful wizard.
Earlier this year he managed to save a strong shifter warrior from an unseen assailant. The shifter warrior had managed to kill the orcish ambush, but before dying to his weapons, the orcish shaman leading the group summoned an invisible stalker, an enemy the shifter had no defense against. Shadar managed to save him by using his magic to allow the warrior to see his assailent and helping by using magical attacks and a spell or two to keep the warrior on his feet until he could fell the creature. In gratitude the warrior gave him one his daughters as a slave, a warrior girl named Rain.
{invisible stalkers can fly negating the grease argument, so i went with a support role)
2 weeks later, an escaped slave started trying to convert women from the shadows, an evil witch determined to turn society on its head and subjugate men. Shadar's father Kain, then told him to bring a missive to the nearby temple city of Saraan. After a quick trip, using his magic to hasten it slightly, he made it there and commissioned a witch hunter to come backto help him handle it. Thus did he obtain the services of Sora, the dragonborn cleric. After capturing her, he managed to convince her to stay in case history were to repeat itself, or the witch had superiors that might get involved.
After outing the witch, and having her put in the stocks to public use, gagged and chained, someone put out a hit on Shadar through a proxy, attempting to use the guild for misandrist purposes. Fay was sent to kill him, but failed caught by Shadar and his two "companions". Going on rumors he had heard about the guild (fortunately for him they were correct), he then blackmailed her into becoming his slave, threatening to send her back to the guild with knowledge of her failure, which would inevitably lead to her death, if she dared disobey him.
Now for the time being, Shadar has managed, through circumstance, magic, and guile, gained himself the service of three slaves, who has has managed to keep for just over a month, as he attempts to train them in how to best serve him.
This morning, Shadar (and his accrued harem of slaves) have a meeting this morning with his father Kain, to discuss a mission outside of the city to go scavenging for some materials.
