Taris, a shimmering blue sphere of life hanging in the inky blackness of the galaxy. It had once been a proud world of the Galactic Republic, a planet spanning city that was home to untold billions. Countless lives were lost some three hundred years ago when Darth Malak bombarded the planet from space and decimated much of what existed on the surface. Now the remains of a great civilization lay scattered in ruins as nature seeks to reclaim a hold where it can.
But that devastation took place some three hundred years ago. Now the Republic seeks to recolonize in a gesture of defiance of Sith destruction. The Empire now places agents of it's own in attempt to disrupt such efforts. While the Treaty of Coruscant still stands, neither side has yet moved to outright conflict. Still, both groups amass intel and arms in preparation for the inevitable start of hostilities that feel ever to be only days away.
The world has also become home to various criminals, smugglers, renegades, and the like who use the vast wilds and lack of order as an cover for their dark practices. Not to mention the unknown beings that languished in the undercity of the mighty metropolis for centuries. Even when the land was populated, most smart citizens knew to avoid the shadows. The places where creatures dwelt, untouched by the light of the sun, moon, or stars.
Reliable landing pads were far and in-between as the choices are between crumbling durasteel skyscrapers and overgrown swampland. The air, hot and muggy, was filled with the constant chatter of insects and birds, as one made their way to the surface. And so our adventurer finds themselves traveling to this hostile environment for their own reasons.
