The sun was a radiant, all watching eye, its light creeping into every corner, bathing the whole farm in a warm glow. A young girl now know with a new identity as Ellie Mae sat perched underneath a towering walnut tree. Its branches gave her a good roof against the warm rays of the sun. She was reading an e-book on a tablet that had been a gift from James. She had never been furnished many gifts growing up, especially not of the latest up to date technologies. The tablet had been given to her during her welcoming shower.
That day was supposed to be a celebration of a new beginning, a new life with a caring loving family. She could still smell the grilled marinated chicken, the taste of the fresh squeezed lemonade and the brownies that melted in your mouth. That night was filled and she was showered with love and affection. She was secretly treated as a precious gem to the family. During that night she wasn’t asked questions of her past, instead she got to make up a past of her own liking. One that would erase her old life. That was also the night she realized her life would slowly go from one side of the spectrum to the next.
Some of the gifts she had gotten was new clothes, a tablet with an amazon gift card for ebooks, luxury homemade soaps made from organic ingredients of different flowers and herbs, lots of gift baskets and homemade cards made from all the family members. So many she was able to create a little artsy craft where she hung a string like a clothing line on her wall and used clothespins to hang up each card. James had welcomed her into his home and immediately took on the role of her father. Throughout the day and evening pictures were taken, cued and choreographed to be the perfect kodak moments. A way of imprinting her new happy life, and erasing anything from her past. She was a shy girl so she had to open up her vulnerability to letting everyone in.
Luckily she was with Zak. She rose up from taking a break from the chapter she was on and looked at the beautiful farmhouse in the distance. Work was constantly being done to expand and keep it updated, they were even remodeling the lower levels of the house to make them finished. As she sighed watching family members in the distant do daily jobs she looked down at the engagement ring on her hand. It felt out of place but she closed her fist closing her eyes, it was silver, and had a heart diamond. It was more jewelry than she had ever had in her life. Zak had proposed to her publicly a month after coming here, she wasn’t prepared, wasn’t warned, but knew she had to accept, had to accept because she was now playing the role of a young girl who grew up here and had known Zak throughout high school. She had realistically known Zak for a complete year. For a couple of months she had talked to him online and he had convinced her to let him visit and stay with her. They met and he ended up staying with her for few months and then disappeared after six months without notice, he kept in contact online and would encourage her to come live with him and his family, where she would have absolutely no worries. He promised to bathe her in love and spoil her and to have a family.
Upon arrival she didn’t know that she had asylum that the other women in the family didn’t. She was excluded from certain activities, she was given her own room with Zak (one they had remodeled to her liking), she wasn’t to be shared by the other men. Most of the women were shared by each other as was the men, multiple sex partners were normal but not something looked upon. She was considered and privileged to be in a monogamous relationship with Zak. It was Zak’s 27th birthday present that an older tradition would skip one or two generations back to him to fulfill, to marry and have Ellie Mae to himself, and himself only in the sexual aspects of mind and soul.
Ellie pushed off the grass as a small pembroke corgi came running up to greet her. He had been one of four family farm dogs and had grown attached to her. He often followed her around the farm and James noted it was a good sign, a sign she was lost but found. She was enjoying one of her personal day off, every member got one day to relax and do as they please within limits. She was fortunate enough to have two. She felt happy but also felt depressed, she had come here damaged and vulnerable and now felt like she had to be someone she wasn’t, but they were slowly making her believe she was that person she was desired to be. She could see the young children playing and decided to play along and with her bare feet placed her tablet on the porch and started tickling and chasing the little ones.
