Just out of curiosity, what is the difference between Blue Moon and Elliquiy?

I have been wondering what the difference is between Elliquiy and Blue Moon since I discovered Elliquiy existed, long about my second week here on Blue Moon.

The registration process is different for one.
I also find the attitudes of the places to be quite different.
Though I enjoy both sites and have friends on both.

Different registration, different administration, different culture. Both beholden to Our Dark Master Vekseid, however.

They're two different role playing sites hosted by the same person. It's easier to make an account here, but there you have to make a thread answering questions and then get approved. Basically, Blue Moon is like a small cosy community. E is a giant. There are far more people and forums are there. Here are a few more random differences over there.

There's a policy of one bump per month there, as opposed to one per day over here.

The staff have cool titles like oracles and stuff. Everyone has some kind of title, like Lord, Lady or Leige. If you're a donor over there, you become a knight or a champion.

Posts you make in the games increases your overall post count there, unlike here.

The notification for getting a new message there, is admittedly not as cool as the beckoning envelope over here.

There's a culture of making a thread called Ons and Offs over there, which is basically a role player's general rules and preferences. We just integrate it into our request threads here.

The look and layout of the site is different.

There's no PM tracking over there.

You cannot unsubscribe from a thread you posted in. Actually, you never subscribe either. You get notifications whenever there's a new post.

And, I'm sure there'll be a lot more

Thank you all for your feedback, both public and private. :)

Just popping in to make a notation on this, that Prince is a little misinformed. The version of 'subscription' over there is the bookmarking feature. Which you click on the 'bookmarks' tab in your area, you can 'unsubscribe' by going into your bookmarks tab and clicking the box on the right side - sliding all the way to the bottom of the page - and then click the removal button.

I personally feel that Elliquiy is a different culture. It's more of a inclusive culture there, and it's about finding a safehaven for a variety of interests. They are very strict about who can and cannot join, and thus there is a different 'quality' of writing on that site. Not that BlueMoon doesn't have amazing writers, but I find more higher quality writers on Elliquiy...

I don't think quality really has anything to do with it. I've found both good and bad writers on both sites. Each place is different in terms of atmosphere, I'd say. Plain and simple. But if you're curious to know the differences, best way to learn them is to take the plunge and see it for yourself from your own perspective. Really, it's the best way to do so. Maybe it's for you...maybe it isn't. But I don't really want to compare the places overly much and get into the nuances of which is better and blah blah blah.

I did just that, DarkAngel:) The application process was a bit intimidating to me to begin with, but it wasn't all that painful in reality at all.

Thank you all for the responses!

I actually posted about this the other day. ^^

There are some differences between BlueMoonRoleplaying and the sibling site, Elliquiy, in my personal experience.
BMR has role players that are more open to the darker elements, and a higher mass of sexually concentrated stories.
E has role players that desire submission, and romance.
All good peoples! Not by any means generalizing a site, there are role players that are both on the sites: both most def have both. Just something I've observed.

Another thing E is more of the 'writers' side of the two sites. E also can tend to be more forum RPs, as BMR can tend to be more PM or off site. :)

I meant that there's an option called "Show New Replies", which shows all the replies to every thread you ever posted in. And that you can't unsubscribe from some threads over there, whereas in Blue Moon, if you want to see the threads you want to see posts from, you have to subscribe and then it comes in the User CP.

Another difference is that Elliquiy doesn't allow drafts while preparing either PMs or posts.

As far as atmospherics go, I find Elliquiy in chat a lot friendlier and more formal. Whereas here, in chat, we are not so formal with each other, probably because there are far less of us here and we know each other well.

BMR being half Elliquiy's size doesn't make it 'far less of you'. Most of you hole up in the PM system, so the site looks about a fifth as active as it actually is.

Well I am thoroughly enjoying both sites:) In about a month I will be able to contribute on Elliquiy's behalf as well, but I can't afford more than what I am doing right now due to prior committments to help some family members out financially. I think both sites are awesome, and honestly can't tell much of a difference between them. The BM site seems to have a PM system that was easier for me to catch on to. And I like the bookmark option of Elliquiy better than the subscribe option on BM. So only minor technical differences but nothing that is a deal breaker.

The people are awesome on both sites though.

I didn't mean the entire site. I just feel like chat in BMR is a cosy community because I always see the same faces (or names), so we aren't that formal with each other. Whereas on Elliquiy, there are more people so we're kind of formal but friendly too.

Now that I think about it, I think it's because chat here is open unless closed and chat there is closed till open. So, that's why more people stumble into chat there.

As this question has been more than thoroughly answered, I will now close this thread.
