Grass stalks bent to a moderate wind as the sun was starting to set in the west, indicating noon was over. A tall plateau hovered high above what was green savannah of grass and the few occasional trees. In the distance there was the line of a forest, but within the shadow of the plateau was a small, average village which had settled her some generations ago, and ever since lived in relative harmony. There was the occasional animal problem, yes, but otherwise this was a calm, happy community.
That is until a few years ago...
For whatever reason, for whatever called it, a dragon came. A large, fierce beast which had flew over the lands terrified the village as it fly high up to the ledges and made its nest. The creature never left. I simply stayed there, occasionally making itself seen as it flew up and around the lands.
It terrified the animals to the point chickens did not lay eggs and cows did not give milk. Wild game became scarce. Fires occasionally broke out, and a sense of dread hung over every man, woman and child's head that the dragon would come down and burn their lives into ash.
Such things rarely happened. For years the they cowered and for years they wondered as to what to do. The dragon was not going to leave. It would forever more stare down at their village from the plateau and haunt them.
At long last an idea came. While hesitant at first, it was thought there would be a way to at least live with the dragon. It was a long shot, but the village would do anything for some peace.
What they would need is a Sacrifice...
