Laura had just finished her last lesson of the day. Her feet were killing her, these new black heels she had bought weren't at all comfortable, leaving her soles sore. As much as she wanted to take a few test papers home to mark and relax, she was on duty of detention and there was no way out of it. Everyone took turns to do it because everyone hated it, who wanted to stay behind and look after middle aged teens with an attitude?
To make matters worse her engagement was called off by her fiance, determining that Laura put her work before anything else.
Her way of coping with it? Was to keep busy....at work. Leaving her things behind, including her bag under the desk, Laura left her classroom and attended the special room for detention. It was down the corridor, the only door without any windows. The principal had changed it that way to stop students from disturbing the others who were serving their time after school.
Heading inside, she saw the ten desks laid out in front of the huge whiteboard while making her way to the desk. She wished she could take it in her own classroom where she taught History but it wasn't to be.
Now it was just time to wait for the students to roll in, there was no register, so she had no idea how many to expect.
