The circus was a big deal in these parts of the world as most people didn't travel and it was a way to bring the world to the people. But this was different as the King had sent out a special invitation to this circus, as he wanted to entertain his beloved daughter on her birthday. This was nothing new to this circus as they were wanted by many nobles and other kings in other kingdoms. What made this circus special was that they had rare species that they liked to show off.
One of these rare species was a fox eared and tailed girl, her people were hard to find and knew how to stay away from those that wished to harm them in anyway. But Nina was born into this circus and it was all that she knew. She was a something cute to look at when she was younger and many nobles payed well to hold her and stroke her head, but as she grew up the circus master had her dance for the crowds. It was then that the nobles payed lots to have her privately dance for them at parties and she did.
So Nina expected to be dancing for the nobles of the court and for the king and his daughter. "Hey Puck, grab Nina Master Jarod wants her." Called Dren who was a fire and sword eater.
Nina looked at Puck and waited for him to put her collar on as she wasn't aloud anywhere outside the ring without a collar or leash. Puck was a back stage assistant who took care of Nina, she liked him but she could see that he was a little put off by her ears and long bushy tail. But that was fine they were friends and enjoyed each others company.
Once collared and leashed Puck lead Nina to where Master Jarod was, he was an impressive man with sharp grey eyes and a large build. He was stern and didn't often call on Puck to bring Nina out, but this had to be special and indeed it was as the King was with him.
"Is this the pet you were talking about?" Asked the King as he looked at Nina then at Master Jarod.
"Yes, she is the best dancer of all my foxes. She will make a good pet for your daughter, she is obedient and not violent. But just in case keep the collar on her. If the princess isn't pleased with her, let me know and she can pick of any of my stock." He said in a fluid business tone, which seemed to bring approval from the King.
"I will take her, guard see to it that she is dressed and cleaned before being presented to my Daughter." The King said before talking further with Master Jarod.
Nina was slightly terrified as she looked at Puck, who seemed a little confused as the guard took her leash from his hand and began to take her away. She had never been sold before nor had she ever been away from the circus for every long. She was taken down many halls and through many corridors before coming to a place where a few women waited for her, they took the leash from the guard and lead her away so they could wash her and get her ready.
Nina was poked, prodded and brushed until the women thought she looked decent enough to be seen by the princess. They then dressed her in light but flowing robes before placing a new studded collar and leash on her. "There take her up to the princess." The woman said to the guard who had been watching the entire time.
Oh how Nina hoped that she would please whoever she was going to belong to now. She didn't want to disappoint but at the same time she wished to be staying with the circus.
