Karthos is a large city about the size of Texas or 268,820 sq miles.
It is always night there, but not pitch black, more of a shiny night sky that is illuminated by a purple moon.
At it's southern borders is the only city where Dark Stone castle resides. It is surrounded by the merchant shops, homes, and the library of the city. Underground however it has vast tunnel systems that reach out to access the lands without being seen.
After the city lies the Black Forest. It is an expanse of black trees that resemble what a normal tree looks like when it is dying. There is no water here instead ash falls from the sky as rain normally would. After a few days upon the soil the ash turns into a liquid form and is consumed by thwae trees or collected by the people as a resource. There are huge "rivers and waterfalls" of ash where it is plentiful.
Creatures like trolls and ashworms roam the forest but the people are generally not bothered by them. The wolves and bears do attack on occasion or wander into town.
After the Forest is a streatch of cold mountains as high as the Rockies. Bandits and outcasts, live here. People who have decided that the ways of Karthos are not for them. They have pocketed camps and stage raids every so often.
Soon comes the Wastelands. A seemingly endless expansion of desert that leads to the other Lands. More added later.
