Jason Diers had managed to do what his girlfriend had really wanted to do as a couple get together. Both of them had taken the time to set their summer vacation that would normally allow them both to go back and visit with their family while they were away from the university and Jason had managed to get them a trip to a remote island, one of which was privately owned, and often required more than a little bit of personal contacts to get onto. It helped that Jason had contacts within his family, both of his parents wishing he would of gone to an ivy league college rather than a lesser one, but Jason wouldn't leave his girlfriend for anything.
Jason was almost elated when the both of them started on their cross country hike, a two week long affair where they would stop at specific points on the island that were stocked with provisions, but Jason and Hazel themselves would mainly be staying under the stars without the need of a tent, in just their sleeping bags while enjoying each others company.
It was under these stars that Jason woke Hazel, as he pointed up at the sky as he saw what looked like an impressive meteor shower, as it was close to such times in the year that such an event was visible by the naked eye. What Jason didn't expect was to see one of those very stars fall out of the sky and impact but a half mile away.
The pod itself was typical of the Xeration alien species, as it was possessed of a singular intelligence, and that was simple. Find a habitable planet with an existing intelligent species, and start a series of procreation that would infest the planet till every species there was an augmentation of the Xerations, which would then be a staging world for further invasions. It was hoping to get onto a larger land mass, but as it was only able to affect itself faintly in entry into the atmosphere, it was happy to find itself on a land mass, rather than in the water that seemed to cover seventy percent of the planet.
As it started to cool, it became apparent that the 'rock' like appearance was just it's outer skin, as it started to faintly open up, revealing some of the organics within it, a gentle effluence of scents filling the air, as it hoped that the current mix would be enough to cause the couple that were closely approaching risk the faintly singed ground to come closer to it.
