Earth, the blue planet a place where the cycle of life and death reigns supreme over all creation. Humans for centuries been poisoning the planet and taking it's resources without concern for the future of their world. They had been waging wars and starting conflicts that would destroy entire ecosystems, using their greed for power and control as a means to absolve themselves of their sins. But no amount of power or control could save the human race from the threat of extinction at their own hands. At least no power on Earth, even with all the greatest minds on the planet; after the year 2056 AD things had begun to look incredibly bleak. It was the destination of Earth to become that of a barren waste, but not before the possibility of redemption came to fruition.
Earth's savior the Chi'Tari, an ancient alien race consisting primarily of sentient machines. The Chi'Tari came to the blue planet after having observed their communications, and development for the last four hundred years. A strange object that had orbited the Earth that had become dubbed as the 'Black Knight satellite' was an observational drone of the Chi'Tari. It had been reporting everything from weather, to the development of man as well as the interference and influence that other alien species had on the humans.
The Chi'Tari came to Earth in the year 2058 AD, when the human population was dwindling to the point that without any interference they would have all died out. They came with one message, that they were the saviors of humanity and to not take their hand was the same as embracing death. Having no other choice, humanity graciously accepted their newly appointed saviors gesture and welcomed them to their dying planet. The Chi'Tari spent the next forty years building up humanity to the point where things were once again becoming stable, they showed the humans how to use technology to create the fuels and materials needed for building, rather than taking them from the planet itself. They showed them how to target specific genetic mutations within the DNA of their bodies in order to weed out cancer and diseases that had prior been a risk of death. They had even shown them how to create life in order to better understand it. The Chi'Tari recognized the human's mind, and recognized it's potential to learn and evolve. They however didn't recognize the critical human flaw, greed.
After the Chi'Tari left Earth in 2098 AD, they left with one word of caution. Since they had come and stopped humanity from destroying itself, they would not be returning ever again. And anything that happened from that point forward, was completely dependent on humanities desire to thrive and survive. It however didn't even take humankind two full years before the power that they had been given had gone to their head. In 3000 AD, humanity had created a 'working-force'. A cross between human DNA and that of an animals, these hybrid entities were to be nothing more than slave laborers.
Their entire purpose in life was to serve humanities needs. Pick up after the humans, build for the humans, die so that the humans wouldn't have to. They were viewed as nothing more than the cattle of the 20th century. But they were so much more than that, they were something of possible greater value than that of humans. And when the hybrids, who were affectionately called 'Stains' had come to the conclusion that they were in all rights equal to that of the humans who had created them. But the humans clearly didn't see it as such, and so the little rights that the Stains had were immediately withdrawn and they were forced out of their modest homes and into camps not too different from that of World War II concentration camps.
This of course was the last straw that would break the camels back, and once in their respective camps determined by what function they served the Stains decided enough was enough. They had been created to brunt the load that a human body could not, and as such they were superior in their own rights. While many of them didn't have the high levels of intelligence that the humans did, they had a physique that couldn't be matched. Even with their improved weapons capabilities, being that of directed energy weapons the humans didn't stand a chance at the unified effort of the Stains. In one day over a thousand humans were killed across the Western nation, and the creations the humans had made disappeared into the night.
It wasn't even a week after the disappearance of the Stains that they had sent a messenger to speak on behalf of them about a truce and a coalition of efforts. This messenger was sent back with one mission, to inflict a horrific infectious virus onto the Stains that was specifically made to target them. Fifty percent of the population of Stains disappeared over night, and that act of aggression would be the first bullet fired of World War III. The war started in 3010, the Stains went even deeper into hiding, breeding and making certain that those who went off to wage war had offspring that would grow in order to fill the spot of a missing male or female.
It was a bloody and violent war, becoming so drastic and ruthless that the humans resorted to their old barbaric tactics that had got them into the mess in the first place. Fission weapons an advancement in the technology of nuclear weaponry. Whereas nuclear bombs made areas inhabitable for all life, the fission weaponry was specifically tuned and developed to only target the DNA of the Stains. In most every case, this was beyond lethal as it would turn the human animal hybrids into puddles of mush. But there were some extreme cases where the bombs had mutated the DNA even further within the individuals making them crazed rampaging beasts, rather than intelligent and strong workers.
This was the undoing of humankind, once again they'd only pushed their own demise unto themselves. These mutated Stains were nearly unstoppable and since humanity no longer used projectile weaponry, everything was energy based their weapons were useless against these mutants. The mutants tore through entire colonies of humans, eating men, women and children alike. The abominations that humanity had created also targeted their predecessors, the Stains. Being mixed with animals, they had more meat to be used as food for the mutated monstrosities.
Now in 3033 AD humanity and the hybrids they'd made out of laziness both were the targets of something more sinister. Humans were split up into small groups that often didn't stay in one place too long. They were more like nomadic settlers than citizens. And the Stains had gone further into hiding and disarray, none of them trusted humanity and those that did business with humans were treated as outsiders and cast out of the settlements.
Zander had changed much since the days of being a construction slave. Before he was tall, muscular and built like a truck. And while his height hadn't diminished too much, he had certainly lost weight and some of his muscle mass. He had built himself a nice little life hunting the ruins of war. He was forced into isolation after making a deal with a group of humans that cruised around the desert that he had retreated to before the war. Before the war, the desert was a sprawling sea of bountiful grasslands. It was the agricultural center of the Western nation, but the fission weapons that had been dropped from orbit changed all of that.
Zander, much like other older Stains had learned much during his time of working in the human cities. He was considered to be a foreman of the construction sites and he knew machinery and the inner workings of technology. He was a fast learner and had shown great promise of becoming an honorary citizen, which meant he would have been given his freedom to not be a slave, but things changed too quickly for that to happen. And he had heard those who were honorary citizens had been captured and taken in after the war started. Zander didn't necessarily trust humans, but he needed their trades to survive. He could find water, but food was beyond scarce and the risk of trying to hunt a mutant down just to eat was too high. Zander however was great at scavenging and in a network of caves he'd stashed and repaired much of the destroyed military machinery that powered the mobile human settlements.
Currently Zander was waiting at a rendezvous point for a group of humans he had a good trade relationship with. They trusted him not to screw them over, and he trusted them to not kill him. They brought him food, and other things that would be of use to his survival. But what he wanted to trade for this time around, wasn't something so much as survival needs, but more along the lines of physical. He wanted to trade a good portion of the weapon systems he'd restored to functionality for that of a human female, he wanted one that was attractive and that was young. He had a specific want to see if he could have child with this female. The rendezvous point was a large crater where the fission bomb had landed and decimated the area, they were to meet in the center of it as it would hide them from view of anyone looking over the landscape.
