"Dad? I'm Home," Mae sighed softly as she walked through the kitchen door. Not getting an answer, she tossed her backpack on the chair and got herself a soda and then sat down at the table sighing softly. Lately she hadn't been herself since her mom passed away, but she knew David, her stepfather hadn't been any better seeing as they hadn't been married a whole year. Honestly she was surprised that he had kept up as well as he had.
There had been a lot of controversy since her mom married David considering that her mom was a rabbit but they made it work and in fact were deeply in love which is why it pained her to see David go through the loss. Honestly she knew it was hard for him to see her in the house considering she was the splitting image of her mother when she was younger with her warm cinnamon fur and her waist length honey blonde eyes.
She pulled out her notebook and text books to to her homework which her mind really wasn't on. Her long ears flopped down as she sat her head on the table with a soft sigh. "Could things get any worse?" she sighed softly.
