The blades of the helicopter whirled overhead, laying the grass beneath it out flat as it slowly hovered above it. Once it was about five feet off the ground, a single man jumped out of the back before signaling the pilot. Once he saw the signal, the pilot nodded and began to ascend back up into the cloudless sky, the thrum of the engine getting fainter as it departed. Lawrence Barkley stood still, watching the chopper fly off before turning to look at the scenery around him. He had come to this remote Vietnamese rainforest in search of new species of wildlife. He had only just gotten his degree a few months ago, and he had worked tirelessly to be allowed to go solo on this expedition. He had always been a lover of the outdoors, and was fully prepared for the next week ahead. He adjusted the bandana holding back his black hair, keeping it out of his bright hazel eyes. He was well built, a little over six feet tall, and relatively handsome.
He pulled out a map and checked his position with the compass around his neck before taking a deep breath. "Alright, here we go." He said and plunged into the thick foliage. He pulled out a water bottle and took a drink as he made his way carefully though the jungle. He observed everything around him, looking for anything unusual that might point to discovering some never-before-seen animal or plant. He knew his chances of finding anything might be slim, but he was determined to accomplish something before the week was over.
