Annasalia was always a curious child that wished to travel and see the world. However being a noble had it's down sides. She was the only daughter to the Magitur family and her brother had done a good job of keeping their namesake life. It was her that her father worried most about, she was never far from trouble. Annasalia always watched the boats come into the dock and would instantly run to see what kinds of trouble she could find herself, and what kind of different people she might, be them human or something else seeking refuge from the impending war against the demons that were roaming free on the mainland, there she had met a merchant that was more than he had seemed and the man with his grimy friends had caught the girl in a ring of smuggling. She was only around ten when the young noble girl had joined the ring of Avasil, a large smuggling group. It was often her father would bail her out of jail, no matter how much trouble she caused from stealing from the refugees or nobles on the land, he even paid quite well to keep the silence of the guards and people she had stolen from as to keep their name sake. Her dear father had even tried so much as to lock the poor girl in their estate when she was fourteen, but it never took her long to figure out how to pick the locks, those seemed to change regularly now, but she was a force to be dealt with. The family tried as they might to keep her on track, to make sure she did not further sully their family name and tried to keep her on a leash...but Annasalia would have none of it, she was tired of being held down by her family and she was trying her best to find a way out...
It was never often that ships would leave for the mainlands and often she was boarded up in the estate or too deep in trouble with guards or stealing to even bother or care, but when she had turned 15 the worst of the demons had hit the mainlands and more and more mainlanders seemed to be coming to the large island. Still, there was one ship that braved to return to the mainland of the southwest side of the country where the savage people lived, the people her father and mother had told her most to stay away from. She had never so much as seen any of the mainland, or any of these savage ones but when opportunity called Annasalia was on board. She had managed not only to steal money from the family's safe, but off the man that had hired her into the smuggling ring, the guards seemed hot on her heels more than ever, but she could care less. It was easy enough for her to sneak past the hoards of people seeking sanctuary and slip onto the large ship making it's ways back to the mainlands to find more people to 'save' from impending doom, mainly the ship was full of guardsmen and warriors seeking to try to make an impact of the mass of death taking over the mainlands...however there were still a few below deck, besides slavers and slaves, that sought out family where the demons had taken over, Anansalia found her hiding place here amongst the poor and her journey had began. Only the Maker knew what she might find on the mainland and if the savage people might be kind to any of them boarding onto their lands...
The trip had been less than pleasant. Hiding below decks in nothing but rags she had gathered from the servants from her house had been one thing. Watching how the people here treated one another was thing. The slavers were less than pleasant to the slaves and the poor folk below. They would go through poking and prouding at the strong men and pretty women and children. Luickly, with the baggy clothing Annasalia had chosen, she looked more than a fat peasant girl than anything else, so the slavers left her alone. That and the fact she was hidden in the darkest part of the lower decks. Although when the ship halted and the captain called all the passengers that they had landed, she was the first to jump up, eagerly trying to run past the slavers as they distracted themselves. One of the slavers made his way to try to grasp her leg, seeing the scrawny little thing peek out from below the rags, but one of the slaves reacted punching the slaver to get his attention..Annasalia seemed to not notice as she ran up the stairs with the mass of bodies swarming behind her as the slaver turned to beat the slave that had just saved her.
She wasted no time to get off the ship as others swarmed onto the ship for sanctuary to the isles of her country land. She ducked down, crawling under people that were rallied around the ship, fighting with the guards and warriors that were trying to make their way off the ship.
Finally after about an hour of being pushed and shoved into, stepped onto, Annasalia has broken through the crowd. Now the crowd and the ship were at her back. In front of her were several things; The trees that were scattered slightly then the forest that spanned vastly behind, the society of mainlanders hat was to her right in the distance, a wall being built around them, figures fighting with one another in the distance..and the sight of flames and darkness along the mountains behind the trees, to her left their was beach and trees as far as the eye could see. She could see people in the distance to her left washing their clothes in the ocean, talking, or just walking around but this way seemed less clustered by people.
She went this way, to the left onto the beach. The mainland, the heat from the fires in the distance hit her as she began walking, causing sweat to pool over her creamy skin and roll down it. Finally when Annasalia was closer to some of the mainlanders, she started to remove the many layers of clothing she had put on to escape. First came the cowl that covered her porcelain face, though when she removed the top of it from her head she had to place it back on from the heat, being a ginger for the win. Then she removed the many undercoats she was wearing until she was in a loose dress with the cloak still around her body.
Annasalia moved over by the trees when the mainlanders gave her weird looks for exposing herself by removing clothing and discarding them on the beach. At first she stayed at the outskirts of the trees by the beach, but the shade and smell of them drew her further in. In all honesty, she had never really seen anything like this. The way trees clustered together, wildlife scurrying in the shadows away from her, the smells of flowers that surrounded her. The most she had seen in the city or the isles was the expanse of desert life they had. If anything the isles mainly got their food and supplies from the mainland, but they had stored enough over the decades that the capital would survive in the midst of a blight such as this was.
Still, as her golden hues fell on the sight of a single butterfly landing on a pink flower with the light from between the foliage of trees come into sight..she removed her cloak altogether. Revealing her shimmering mahogany colored hair, her fraile face, the beauty mark on her right cheek. She moved, as slowly as she could, closer and closer to the beautiful thing in awe. Every step was cautious, the sound of twigs breaking under her sandal made the butterfly flutter its wings in fright.
It took a tedious fifteen minutes for her to get close enough where she could cup her hands. Slowly she moved it forward, ready to try to get the butterfly with the flower. Just as she moved to grasp the stem of the flower, she could feel the ground shaking beneath her feet, causing the butterfly to fly away. "No!" Annasalia shouted in dismay as she watched it fly to the sky. However the butterfly was not the only thing to fly away, bird flew out of the trees blocking the little bit of sunlight she had, deers and elk, all such creatures of the forest were crying running from whatever was coming, and there was something coming with the way the ground shook beneath her. She stood there, watching the creatures run frantically past her and around her. Why were they running? Did she scare them all?
