A lone fishing boat lulled in the sea water, as the owner stood in the back of it, net in hand. He glanced to the horizon; storm clouds were forming, and nasty looking ones at that. He would have to make this last one count. He cast the net off the boat, as it sank into the water. He leaned against the railing, looking downwards at the rippling water.
The man's name was Daniel Chack. He was a tall man, with scraggly dark brown hair and emerald green eyes, as well as a subtle stubble on his chin. At 24 years old, he had been fishing as a hobby for three years; he didn't really care for the amount of fish that he caught in his endeavors, he just enjoyed fishing. He glanced at the island that was a few miles away from his boat. He had several rumors about the island, such as it being the home of merfolk and there being a fountain of youth. He shook his head; he didn't believe in such stories, and the only ones that did were children and the occasional drunk back in town.
Daniel focused his attention back to the net. He pulled on the rope it was attached to, which was taut. He started pulling it up, straining a little. That's odd, it's heavier than usual this time, he thought, as he finally hauled it up and gently placed it down onto the boat floor. He saw the fish wriggling about, but he also noticed something...larger. He couldn't make out what it was, due to how thick the netting was. His curiosity peaking, he opened the net.
