Hello everyone! In the spirit of online gaming/recreation and the threads that have been made to bring us together, I submit to you all one more! This one will be centered around SecondLife and will serve as a way to let those whole use it to connect and perhaps hand out, BS around, fuck each other senseless, etc. I have also created a BlueMoon group, called Blue Moon Role Playing, so we can all lump together :3
What is SecondLife (SL) you might ask?- SecondLife is, essentially, a MMORPG. Some may say it's not, I happen to think it is. You're playing a role that you made up for yourself, even if it is yourself, and you are having fun, hence the 'game' part of it. In SecondLife you can do practically anything. There's working, hanging out, shopping, roleplaying, combat, everything the real world offers just in digital form.[/list:u]
There's working? WTF?!- Don't worry, everything is optional. You don't have to. It's sorta like The Sims, except there's not really any repercussions for not working. Granted, it's a decent way to earn monies, but you don't have to at all. Hell, if it's your thing you can be an escort (lolpaying4rpsex).[/list:u]
Wait, money?- Yes, there's money (called Lindens, or L$). It's the currency that drives SL. There are two primary, and one frowned upon, ways to get lindens: Working, spending REAL MONIES, or (I will shoot your ass for this) asking others. Spending real money isn't that bad. You pay $50 for a new video game. SL is free with no hidden costs or anything. Sink $30 into L$ and you get... $L8000+, I believe. That's a nice chunk, and it gives you plenty to work with to build your avatar how you want it.[/list:u]
But... but... free stuff???- Oh yes, there are freebies in SL. Some stuff is crappy, but there is some worthwhile stuff. I built one of my avatars entirely on freebies and stuff won from prize chairs and have gotten a lot of compliments on the look. FYI - Prize chairs are places that have an item from the store listed above it and a letter. If your first name starts with that letter, sit on the chair and you get the item for free. Damn nice, too.[/list:u]
Linden Labs (LL) recently forced a move of all Adult rated areas to a totally separate section of the SL world (grid). What does that mean to you? Nothing, except in order to access them you must[/i] be Age Verified. Not a hard process, and offers a variety of ways to prove to LL that you are 18 or older. I did it, it's a piece of cake.
Speaking of adult stuff, let's talk about RP a bit. Practically every kink is catered to. Misha, I know you are reading this and yes, you can find people that are into everything you get off to! There's also a big thing everywhere I have been about not allowing kiddie pronz type stuff, which is fucking awesome and, I'm sure, to everyone here.
I will also be working on making a 'BM noob pack' that will give a few pointers and such, in case you want to join the fun ^.^

SL has a semi-crappy naming scheme. There is a first and last name, but you can only pick a unique first name. The last name is pulled from a list on their database, based upon what your first name is and if it is associated with a last name to avoid duplicates. If you don't like the last names in the list, you can refresh it and it will give you a few different. Silly, possibly retarded, but a minor inconvenience.

I did forget something. There have been many complaints about SL's newest viewer versions, and there is a solution to it. Emerald Viewer is a widely used third party viewer for SL. It gives less lag and a variety of new and handy features. I've been using it for several weeks and it is less problematic. Plus, it adds breast bounce =D
