You remember those tales of old of the werewolf? With teeth that rend and change flesh. With howls that freeze your blood. Claws that maim and scorn those who are touched. But, they are myth and mere legend to make people fearful of the dark...right? On this faithful hallow night one will see. The blight of the night, a wolf morbidly be. With a soul clash in dieing breed it rises gruesome to see. Will this person relish or flee? What ever it shall be some will see the tale of the dark werewolf.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The night felt like any old night for the traveling group. Three wagons trailed into the dark cold night. "Halt!" The lead wagon rider shouted into the air. "We shall stop here for the night. If we go any further it might get worse off for us." He says before having the caravan move the wagons into a protective circle. A fire was started up in the middle as people flocked to it to feel warmth's embrace. "Just one more day." The leader says with a smile. "After that we'll get our profit and head off to the next town."

Endellion was a rather pretty looking girl; she had fair skin, beautiful blue hair, long eyelashes, a slender build, delicate features, and a pretty little face. But she also was a bit odd too, for one thing she liked to fight, she constantly got wounded for that, it was evident by the bandage on her left arm and leg. Another thing that was odd about the girl was who, no what, her best friend was. It was a small brown ferret that she had named aptly named Scoundrel, on account of its thieving nature, and the natural little mask he had.

Endellion walked over to the fire, a blanket was wrapped around her small frame, she was trying to keep herself as warm as possible, after all she was wearing the only set of clean clothes that she had left and they were rather skimpy. Though she didn’t seem to mind her clothes, the only real problem she had was the lack of protection from the cold. As she sat down by the fire Scoundrel jumped out of one of the wagons and raced over to her, plopping himself in her lap. The young girl looked at the leader and sighed, “You said the same thing yesterday. But I guess you are right, better late then never and better safe then sorry.”

((Sorry if it was long I just wanted to get off on a good start, also I am sorry how long it took as I said my computer is laggy.))

The leader merely laughed at what she said, "My you seem so impatient at times. But, I have my reasons for stopping now. The next branch of the forest we are going through is said to be very dangerous at night. Though not many know why. Some say Orcs have found settlements in there or many rouge elves but, the oddest theory is that of the fabled Werewolves. They say that these beasts we created into life by a vengeful man seeking revenge for the death of his kin. So the man used dark magic to put a spirit into a wolf. Thus, created the werewolf. Though that is all just a story to scare little kids right?" He said chuckling softly.

Endellion looked at him; her face was tinged with fright at the mention of the fabled creature, the Werewolves. “I-I wouldn’t be so sure that they are just a story…after all people didn’t always believe in the graceful elves because of the little interaction they had with humans. But I pray that you are right and that those beings are just a bedtime story to frighten little kids into doing what they are told.” The young woman’s voice quivered with terror at the idea that those monsters could be real. Scoundrel looked up at his friend with his beady brown eyes, he could sense her fear, and the ferret turned his head toward the leader and seemed to glare at him for scaring his pal, he quickly stopped glaring when Endellion started to stroke him, it was something she did to comfort herself when she was scared. The ferret gave the man one last glare with his beady eyes before settling back down into her lap.

"Oh, you shouldn't be so scared. It seems your buddy could do some fair scrappings against them." He said with a smile to the animal. But, as long as you don't stray from the camp you won't have to find out if it is myth or truth." The leader said as he prodded the fire to coax the flames up. "You should get some rest young one. In the morning we depart from here."

Scoundrel looked up at the leader and seemed to smile, showing off his white and pointy teeth before he settled back down into Endellion’s warm lap. The girl on the other hand couldn’t help but to continue to worry about it, she shook her pretty little head, causing her hair to sway a little, as she tried to get the though of werewolves out of her head. “Where are we going anyway? I mean I know we are headed toward the next town, but what is it named?” She asked, trying to distract herself from her fears. “And don’t worry about me, I will head off to bed shortly. And I will do my best not to stray to far away from the camp.” Endellion quickly added, trying to reassure the leader.

"Well, it is Farend. Farely big town at that. Then after that we are heading off to trade with Dwarves at their capital." He says to her simply and places more wood into the fire. "If all goes well we'll have enough money to eat for months to come." He says before standing up. "Well, I'm off to sleep. Be good young one." With that he turned around and headed towards his wagon.

Endellion stayed by the fire a bit longer, trying to warm herself up completely. She thought about what the leader had said about werewolves. On the one hand she did feel a bit sorry for the man who had first created werewolves, that someone had killed all of his kin was sad. It was tragic when someone loses the people they cared about. Endellion knew that feeling all to well, she had lost her family when she was but a wee girl, but they hadn’t been killed, they died of illness.

The young woman picked up Scoundrel and walked a short distance back to the wagon she slept in, crawling inside with the ferret underneath one arm, she was careful not to hurt him. Lying down on the wooden bottom of the wagon, her blanket tucked under her chin, she finally managed to push the thoughts of werewolves out of her head and drift off into a dreamless sleep, Scoundrel asleep at her side.

Scoundrel didn’t stay asleep at her side for long though, he heard a noise that woke him up. It sounded like an animal scurrying off. The ferret got up and bounded out of the wagon going in the direction he had heard the sound, he wanted to find out what was causing the noise.

Endellion woke up a few minutes later. Something was wrong. The girl looked at her side and noticed that her furry companion was missing; she quickly got up and started looking around the wagon, her green eyes searching frantically for her missing friend. He wasn’t there. Scoundrel was gone. “Damn it! He must have gone outside!” Endellion said as she wrapped the blanket around herself and stepped outside into the cold night air. “The leader is going to be so mad at me when I get back and he finds out I went outside the camp to find him…but I can’t just leave him out here…what if he is attacked?” She muttered under her breath as she quietly sneaks outside of the protective circle and heads off in the direction where she thought Scoundrel may be.

It takes her almost 30 minutes to find where he went but, once she did it was too late. Both of them were deep into the woods. The dark surrounded the two. Barely anything could be seen but, one thing was heard. The howl of a wolf. The noise sent shivers down the girl's neck as she felt the presence of someone or more rather something. A gust of wind blew hard at her as she was soon able to see glowing yellow eyes. Snarls could be heard as well.

Endellion froze, her body was shaking. She cursed herself for not taking a weapon with her. How could she have been so stupid to leave without protection? Endellion stared at the eerie glowing yellow eyes, remembering that most predators wouldn’t attack while you looked at them, she didn’t dare to blink. She cautiously, slowly, backed away from the animal, if she moved to fast that might make the wolf, for that is what she thought it was, attack her.

Scoundrel was also being careful to back away from the animal, though he knew that while it may smell like a wolf it wasn’t a wolf, something about the scent was off. He had never smelt anything like this before and that scared the ferret.

Soon enough the moonlight shined through the clouds to reveal the monster. Reaching over seven feet was a monster she was most afraid of. Its fur was long and black, the muzzel bared long sharp fangs. Though when the light shined more she could see many painful wounds in its body. It seemed to have taken much damage in a previous fight. The beast was kneeling down from pain but, it didn't mean he wasn't ready to attack her if she got near it. Growls were low and weak as it stared at her.

Endellion let out a gasp of terror when she saw the monsters, she quickly covered her mouth, holding back a scream. Her whole body was now shaking, and she could feel her heart pounding against her chest. It couldn't be, but it was. She was seeing a werewolf and it was huge. The girl couldn't help but stare at the creatures sharp teeth, she didn't want to get bitten by that creature, she knew that the pain would be unbearable. When she saw the wounds on its body however she couldn't help but feel a little concerned, she could tell that those wounds were painful. She hesitantly took one step forward, though her mind was screaming at her to run away.

Scoundrel looked up at his master and tugged at her shoe, trying to tell her to leave and get back to the safety of the camp.

The growl grew as she tried getting closer to it. To her surprise it was moving back. It stayed defensive as she tried getting close to it. Its jaw snapped at her as a warning of what would happen if she didn't leave it be. Its wounds were free and deep. Under its growling was a faint panting.

Endellion took another apprehensive step toward the being, her hands were raised as she tried to convey that she meant the monster no harm. She didn't know why she was doing this, she could be maimed, or even worse, killed. But she just couldn't leave an animal alone suffering, even if that animal was something that was from her scariest nightmares. “I am not going to hurt you.” The young woman said, trying to keep her voice calm and soothing.

Scoundrel looked at the werewolf and then his friend. He quickly dashed off in the direction of the camp, he wanted to go get her help.

His snarls got softer as they were replaced with Whimpers. Looking at its wounds it began to lick at them. It was as if it could understand her intents. Looking at her softly he slowly sat down on the ground. Though he was still quite cautious about what she would do.

Endellion approached the being carefully, and even when she was right next to the werewolf she remained on her guard in case it tried to attack. She sat down next to the creature and carefully examined the wounds, gently parting the fur. She made sure not to actually touch the wounds however, she didn't want it to attack her out of pain. The gashes looked painful, if not deep, the young girl knew that she needed bandage the wounds and she was gratefully that she had took her blanket with her when she left the wagon.

Endellion started to tear the blankets into strips to use as makeshift bandages, she hoped they would be long enough. “I am going to put these on you to stop the bleeding ok?” She said keeping her voice calm.

Scoundrel had reached the camp and jumped into the leaders wagon, he blinked his beady brown eyes before he bit the leader on the hand to wake him up.

The Werewolf stayed there as he looked at her curiously. Seeing the bandages he simply licked her forehead to show his appreciation. Though he also noticed her bare skin. With that he wrapped his arms around her slowly and softly. It knew she wouldn't last too long in the cold with only that on.

Meanwhile at the camp the Leader yelped over the pain from the bite. "What in the hell was that for you crazy critter?" He said rubbing his hand softly. "Shouldn't you be with Endellion?" He says to the Ferret.

Endellion gently pushed away the werewolf's arms, she need him to stay still so she could bandage him up. “Don't move, you need to stay still ok? If you don't I could end up hurting you more, and we both don't want that.” The young woman said as she carefully started to wrap a bandage around the biggest wound, doing her best not to touch the wound, but occasionally it couldn't be helped.

Scoundrel dashed toward the edge of the wagon and then back to the leader before repeating the action, he was trying to show that he wanted the leader to follow him. But the ferret probably just looked like it was insane. He just hoped that the leader would get the message before it was to late.

Blinking the leader decided to see what the hell had gotten into the ferret. Then it hit him, "Shit she went off." He whistled for a group of guards to follow him into the forest and after the ferret to see where she was.

The Werewolf looked at her and stayed still as she tried to mend him. His ears moved up in interest. The beast whimpered some as she patched his wounds up. Soon enough they were all wrapped and only time would tell if he would survive. Though their healing was much quicker than most creatures.

Endellion wiped her brow, smiling at her work when she had finished bandaging up the big creature. She still didn't know if the werewolf was a male or a female, she hadn't thought to check. She just hoped that she had done a good enough job and helped the being more then she hurt it. The pretty young woman gently patted the werewolf's muzzle, forgetting that he could bite her and kill her as fast and as easy as stepping on a bug.

Scoundrel lead the men toward where Endellion was, pausing every so often to get the scent, it had taken him awhile to get to the leader, and for all he knew his squishy human buddy could be dead. Eaten by the non wolf wolf thing.

The Werewolf looked at her for a moment before seeing the group come in. "Look it is a werewolf and it has the girl." It instantly growled at the pack of humans and got in front of the girl. It seemed protective of her but, they just saw it as protecting its snack. It growled more as the group slowly got closer to the beast. "Get that bastard. We'll save you Endellion!" The Leader said as he took a sword out and pointed it at the beast.

Endellion quickly vaulted over the werewolf, an amazing feat that would have left people clapping if it wasn't for the fact that this was a serious situation. She spread her arms out in front of the werewolf and glared at the leader and the group of men. “Put down your sword, leader. The werewolf hasn't injured me nor does it have me captive. I found the creature wounded and I bandaged it up to the best of my abilities. If it had wanted to attack me it had plenty of opportunities to do so.” The young woman said sternly, though on the inside she was terrified. She was standing in front of a wounded animal that could attack her out of pure instinct.

Scoundrel quickly dashed over to his fleshy buddy and crawled up her until he rested on her shoulder comfortably.

They are froze in fear. "She sides with the monster...Then....he must of turned her! She is a werewolf now too!" One of them said frantically. Soon enough the group was against her over their ignorance. Though the Werewolf understood what was happening and then picked her up before any harm could fall onto her. Then he ran off with her and the Ferret. Even wounded the beast was much faster than the group. But, it still took a while to out run them.

Soon enough the beast let the girl go. They were inside a cave now with what seemed like a makeshift bed of leaves and other soft things. The werewolf fell down in it with a thud. He had no more energy to spare and thus rested for now. She was free to do what she willed now. Whether it be with him or escape the forest.

Endellion was shocked and heartbroken to hear her friends turn against her. The being hadn't turned her, she was just trying to explain that he hadn't harmed her and they shouldn't attack the werewolf. She was about to yell at them when the werewolf had suddenly picked her up and dashed off with her. The young woman let out a scream of terror. Had she been wrong? Did the creature really want to eat her? These thoughts raced through her head as she carried her and Scoundrel off, going deeper into the woods.

When the werewolf put her down she backed away a few steps, her heart was pounding against her chest. Endellion closed her green eyes and waited for him to attack, kill, and eat her, her slender body trembled in fear as she waited for her certain death. When seconds passed and she still wasn't dead she slowly opened her eyes and stared at the werewolf. Why hadn't the werewolf attacked her? She tried to think of a reason a more pressing matter came to her mind. What should she do? It was obvious know that she couldn't go back to her group, they thought she was a werewolf now, and even though she wasn't she knew that they wouldn't believe her. If she went back into the woods they could find her and kill her or something else could. If she stayed with the werewolf, well she knew where it was wounded and could always fight back. She sighed and sat down, her mind made up.

Scoundrel crawled onto her lap, nuzzling against her, trying to cheer his pink buddy up.

The werewolf rested for a moment to regain some strength. After that it got up and wandered out. Its movements were slow and heavy. An hour went by before he came back with wood. The Werewolf dropped the wood infront of the girl. It looked at her calmly before walking towards his bed. With that he went to sleep for the rest of the night.
