Death......Death is something one simply doesn't forget. So quick, so easy, like blowing out the flame of a candle. When it's one's own life that is extinguished, you don't forget it, you can't forget it. Like a splinter in your mind. Than again, how does one have an appreciation for death when one is born undead? In their case, they had more of an appreciation for death and were one with death. They were a member of the undead, ever living, ever hungry. At one point, their kind was one to be feared, one that ruled over the lands in full view of all. Perhaps the most infamous, and perhaps the only one left from their time was on it's way to the British Museum.
In London, a box was being moved by two men. Within contained a shriveled husk that had once been a creature of flesh and blood.
"Why's this box so heavy? It's just a husk right?" said the one man.
"It's a sarcophagus you sod. It's made of stone and gold, how light do you think it should be?" said the other.
"So there's a mummy in this thing?" asked the first man again.
The box was set down with a grunt as the man recoiled and shook his hand. "Oh bollocks! Bloody splinter" he complained.
The other man shook his head and sighed. "Christ your a blooming whiner you know that? Try not to break anything, I'm gonna take a smoke" he said as he walked out to take a smoke.
The man grumbled and looked to the box. He'd never seen a mummy before. When would he get another chance like this? Grabbing a crowbar, he pried the top off the wooden box and slid the lid off the sarcophagus to reveal the mummified corpse. The corpse was mostly bones now, held in place by leathery skin. The man inspected the corpse finding himself wondering who this man could have been. He tilted his head as he noticed the corpses teeth. They were very shark like, there almost appeared to be 2 sets of teeth. He touched the tooth and recoiled again as he sliced it open.
The bones were thousands of years old and yet the bones teeth were sharp as a scalpel. He cursed gently as he made his way to the first aid kit. As the man bandaged and wrapped his finger, something was happening....something monstrous and bewildering. With the cut of the man's finger, the blood trickled into the corpses gullet. The organs had become shriveled, but he was by no means "dead". The blood caused the organs to grow in size, his skin to begin to regain it's normal nature, his organs becoming fully functional.
The first taste of blood in centuries, like fuel for a jet....a jet lined with shark like teeth and a thirst for blood. The shriveled eyelids began to open, it's eyes growing back and becoming black as ebony. His talons rose to the edge of the sarcophagus, his body rising from his place of rest. His sense were slowly returned, the smell of blood returning to him as his gaze looked to the man who had awakening. With a labored wheeze, he slowly rose from his sarcophagus, his legs slowly regaining the muscle as he began to move for his source of food. It was too late for the man. As he turned, the walking corpse was on top of him, his jaw unhinging as his teeth sunk into the man's jugular as he tore out the man's throat, draining the body of it's source of life. The ears grew long and pointed, his muscles growing in size and his claws growing longer as he feasted on his prey.
With the man completely drained of blood, the monster rose, wiping his mouth of the blood as he took a quick whiff. "What the fuck?" called a voice behind him. With lighting speed, the monster moved and made a quick and deadly swipe. The man's body dropped to it's knees as the batlike creature descended once more. The jaw reattached to it's normal point. His hair grew from his scalp and his fingers returned to normal. His bulging muscles returned to a more natural size, his hair growing long and a chocolate brown. His skin was a light tan, a light facial hair sprouting as the man returned to his natural form. He slowly rolled his neck and shoulders as he felt centuries of stiffness in his muscles. That would soon pass. The man was completely naked, he couldn't have that.
He walked to the corpse and stripped the man of his pants, slipping the pants on to cover his manhood. The pants were a bit loose but they would suffice as he made his way out of the warehouse, he began to wonder....how long had he been asleep, and what had changed since his time of unrest?
