Name: Lady de Winter (Usually addressed as “Milady”)
Alias(es): Anne de Breuil; Comtesse de la Fère; Charlotte Backson; several others
Age: 36, though she often lies about this, not solely out of vanity but also as part of her aliases.
Appearance: http://tellychat.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/4910896-low_res-the-musketeers.jpg
Allegiance: To Cardinal Richelieu

About her: Her nefarious career began when, as a 16 year old novice in a Benedictine convent, she seduced a priest and convinced him to help her steal some priceless artifacts from the Church. They were caught, but they managed to escape when she seduced the jailor's son.

Calling herself Anne de Breuil, she later met and married the handsome young Comte de la Fère. He soon discovered her deceitful and treacherous nature, and hanged her from a tree on his estate. At the beginning of our story, he does not know she survived.

Now allied with the Cardinal, she is his most trusted agent. Their relationship is based solely on mutual self-interest.

Milady is intelligent, resourceful, beautiful, and completely without conscience. An adept actor, she can assume any persona that suits her purpose; noblewoman, damsel in distress, seductress, etc.

Name: Armand Jean du Plessis, Cardinal-Duke of Richelieu and of Fronsac
Appearance: http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Guardian/Pix/GU_front_gifs/2013/12/27/1388161197963/Peter-Capaldi-as-Cardinal-011.jpg
Allegiance: His public allegiances are to King Louis XII (as First Minister) and to the Pope (as a Prince of the Church). but Armand's loyalties are entirely to consolidating his own power. He does not desire to either King or Pope, but rather to be the power behind them.

About him: Youngest son of a noble family, young Armand suffered ill health as a child, and swiftly learned to thrive by forging alliances and through political manuring. Holding two positions of power (he is both the highest ranking Catholic clergyman in France, and Prime Minister), His Eminence is a force to be reckoned with. He is a master of intrigue and behind-the-scenes political maneuvering, and employs many spies and agents, and even his own troops, the Red Guards, rivals of the King's Musketeers.

Name: Olivier Athos, Count de la Fère
Alias(es): Athos
Age: 33
Appearance:
44761.jpg

Allegiance: First to his brothers, Porthos du Vallon, Aramis, and Charles Ogier de Batz de Castlemore - better known as "d'Artagnan". Then to the rest of his fellow Musketeers. And then to His Majesty the King, and then to France.

About him:

“Athos liked every one to exercise his own free-will. He never gave his advice before it was demanded and even then it must be demanded twice.
"In general, people only ask for advice," he said "that they may not follow it or if they should follow it that they may have somebody to blame for having given it".”
― Alexandre Dumas, The Three Musketeers

Athos is the eldest of the Three Musketeers, treating Porthos and Aramis as younger brothers and d'Artagnan as a son. He is charming, possessed of a quick wit and a sharp mind, reveling in poetry and learning and word play. His bearing and demeanor are noble and gallant, and his word is unbreakable once given. He prides himself on being the "Cavalier's Cavalier", leaving no wrong unwrited and no plea for assistance unanswered.

He is not headstrong, however. He understands the value of tactics, of strategy, of keeping one's council and waiting until the time is right to act.

"Eh, gentlemen, let us reckon upon accidents! Life is a chaplet of little miseries which the philosopher counts with a smile. Be philosophers, as I am, gentlemen; sit down at the table and let us drink. Nothing makes the future look so bright as surveying it through a glass of chambertin."
― Alexandre Dumas, The Three Musketeers

For all fine qualities, Athos is... secretive. He never discusses his past, and may be found brooding and drowning his secrets in wine. At these times he is prone to cynicism and bitterness, prone to misogyny and a sharp tongue that has landed him in more than one duel.

Name: Charles Ogier de Batz de Castlemore D’Artagnan
Alias(es): D'Artagnan
Age: 19

Appearance: He is a young man who dresses as a simple soldier might, though he never served as a soldier himself. He has longish brown hair and deep brown eyes, and it is only because of he intensity of those eyes that he is noteworthy in any way. Otherwise, he is lean and looks too youthful to be of much concern. D'Artagnan carries two blades, which he uses almost as well as Athos.

Allegiance: Athos, Porthos, and Aramis. Gascony is his home region.

About him: "D'Artagnon A young man who travels from his home in the country to Paris with dreams of becoming one of the King's Musketeers. His father had been a soldier and trained the boy well with both sword and pistol. He's smart but naive, courageous to the point of being foolhardy, and an incurable romantic."

"D’Artagnan is charismatic, impulsive and ridiculously brave with a fierce appetite for justice."

"Although still young, D’Artagnan has seen enough of the world to despise its corruption and compromise. Raised in the country and trained as a fighter since he was a boy, only Athos can match his exceptional skill with a sword. Athletic and determined, he is also intensely romantic, with a moving capacity for true love. In time D’Artagnan will go on to be the greatest Musketeer of them all and a legend in his own lifetime."

Name: Porthos du Vallon. Twenty years on, he will be Porthos, Baron du Vallon de Bracieux de Pierrefonds. but that is another tale.
Alias(es): None to speak of, although he does not use his family name among the Musketeers.
Age: 27
Appearance:
a3a32c8c10141fcf9b2ab6f8fcc678cb.jpg

Allegiance: Athos, Aramis, and d'Artagnan. From thence, Monsieur de Tréville and his fellow Musketeers. Then to his king and his conscience. Oh, and his current mistresses. One must not fail in duty to the women one loves, after all.
About Him: Porthos is large, boisterous, and outgoing. He lives life to the fullest, doing nothing by half measures. He drinks hard, fights hard, loves hard, and hates hard. He is not stupid, but is headstrong and believes in living for today.
Note: If someone else wants to take on the role of Porthos, I'll relinquish him gladly. Let's spread the love around!
