Everything was completely quiet. Nothing penetrated the quiet of that inner sanctum. At least not at that time. Normally during class the meditation room was filled with whispers, over exaggerated sighs, and students fidgeting. Morrigan could never concentrate enough with all of the background activity to achieve true alpha state. Somehow she managed to pass the class with exceptional scores but that was mostly because she took time out of her free time to study further. In reality she should have been the best in the entire school. Her magical blood was particularly potent and her powers truly impressive; she was the daughter of the headmaster after all.
She took in a deep breath and blew it out through her mouth. Slowly her mind began to relax and the world around her dissolved. The light of the candle vanished and all she was left in was perpetual darkness. It was in this state that a witch was able to craft using her astral body. Emissions made during this state were powerful but rarely affected the physical world directly. They were also extremely difficult to achieve. Anyone who could just reach this state was considered to have the greatest potential.
Still, Morrigan needed to be better than anyone else who had passed through those hallowed halls. She had the urge to be the best. It was impossible not to be highly ambitious. All of her teachers had expected her to have the same skills as her father. At this point, though as strong as she was, she was no where near how powerful he was at her age. It annoyed her to no end.
Though in those moments she was complete and utterly gone. Whatever aggravation she may have had was gone. She was simply floating in her serenity. Everything was right in the world. Or so the beautiful redhead thought. Little did she know of the presence that lurked right behind her.
