BENKE LEWIS:
Here is my initial character concept
Character Name: Benke Lewis [pronounced Ben-kuh]
Occupation: Newsie (since he likes the old term and older look); reporter; documentary writer and filmer.
Past: Benke had a best friend when he was younger name Olson; the two were inseparable until a girl, a woman ripped them apart. At first, it was no big deal. The girl became part of the three musketeers; however, she soon realized Benke and Olson were best friends; she never had a best friend. Her jealousy raged. By splitting her allegiances with both of them, telling lies to both of their faces, and being double minded - the two best friends from childhood up had vowed never to speak to each other again.
Present: Having abandoned his child hood because that was now in the past, Benke also abandoned the mystical, the magical, the imaginative. Those were for very little boys with fake best friends.
The present, Benke had done several documentaries. He had hoped to eventually be able to be ranked to the level of Randy, the Magician and also skeptic of all things supernatural. Benke had already done successful documentaries on fake faith healers, Lourdes miracle water, occult phenomena, and fake street healings. Everything had an explanation centered somewhere in the natural world.
Romantic prospects: Because Benke was still in his late teenage years when he lost his bestfriend and because this was a great toll on him, he sometimes had homo erotic feelings for other guys. Further, because his mother often abused him at home (though it was not the type of abuse that could be reported to a police officer without being laughed at), he had cravings for finding love and affection with girls. In sum; he was totally screwed up sexually. Didn't matter; his life was dedicated to uncovering the absurd. Should a woman with equal dissonance come to his path, he would consider. But he wasn't going to waste his times with relationships and friendships since they never seemed to pan out in the end.
Future: Benke was doing poorly financially; everything went from paycheck to paycheck. Sometimes he would sit at home wondering when the next documentary job would be; his success was short lived. He wanted to direct another film, and ProudStar studios was giving him a shot. The upcoming film, No Other Worlds, would be a documentary proving that all things supernatural were simply superweird, and not real at all. They were illusions and tricks; his first set would be at a "haunted" house where people received 'chills' and 'frills'. All psychological bogus according to Benke; people naturally receive bio-feedback chills through the left prefrontal cortex; it was all natural highs and stimulants to him. The brain wanted to be tricked.
