It's kind of ambitious, but for my first game here I was hoping to play out an idea that I've had for a while now but never got the chance to see play.
Basically I'm looking for a DM willing to run a certain kind of game for me. The general premise is that about half the known world is controlled by an evil empire that wants nothing more than to wipe out all other races off the face of the planet and supplement them with their own people. The twist here being that this evil empire is run by the sole human empire, meaning that dwarves, elves, orcs, whatever are being hunted down or being waged war against.
However not all humans are exactly compliant with this, it is just that this latest regime of the human empire decided to turn it into a totalitarian state and enact genocide on the other races in their expansionist push. Kept compliant with the state's efforts through propaganda and overall heavy regulation and policing.
The PC is a human peasant that has either by divine grace or near impossible circumstance, happen upon an item that grants them a huge amount of magical power, giving him the power to fight against the evil regime. However, despite being far more powerful than any mortal individually he's still just one man and needs allies, a whole army that can match against the Empire's. Most other humans are held tightly under the Empire's sway and few dare to stand against it so rebellion alone won't be enough, he'll need to get allies from the other races.
Unfortunately, over the course of the last few generations, pretty much all non-human races have grown to hate all humans with a passion, thus the main issue the PC must face throughout the game. Through either diplomacy or force, the PC must build an united opposition to the Empire and wipe out the regime and its supporters.
So the game will be in part creating an empire, running it, and also doing what they can to fight the evil Empire and gather more power. It's a very Black and Gray sort of thing, where the antagonists (the Empire) are clearly evil but not all of its citizens are, and the "Hero" is hated by most of the world for not only his race but because he is forced to commit evil/villainous/morally ambiguous acts as well if he is to hope to bringing down the Empire's regime. The second catch though is that even if the regime is taken down, it becomes discovered that they are just a part of a larger interplanetary Empire and that this was just world's planted regime. So even after the PC "wins" he finds out that all he did was piss off an even bigger giant to contend with and the only way to be able to fight them is by finishing the job and taking over his world himself so that he can put all of its peoples and resources towards fighting this threat.
So does any of this sound fun to run? I'm looking for just a 1x1 sort of thing. The kind of character I'm looking to play as is sort of the kind of guy that takes the saying "with great power comes great responsibility" to heart but with a dose of cynicism. He is a very high level caster that fights evil with evil because the idealistic route is either unavailable or it is not practical. He wants to make the world a better place, but he can only do that by taking over himself and leading his people to that end, even if he's seen as a just another conqueror in the end.
As said in the title, I'm looking for the game to be run in Pathfinder though I would like to maybe call up some feats and spells from DnD 3.5, (what better way to fight evil with evil than by having access to the Tome of Vile Darkness afterall) but I can refrain if necessary. Overall I'm just looking for some fun roleplaying and to get creative with the empire building rules and such. Combat doesn't have to be stressed since high level casters don't play by the rules of combat very well anyway.
Please let me know if you are interested and we can discuss things from there.
