Leticia and Amber were best of friends. Through thick and thin they did everything together. Growing up in the same town, on the same block, going to the same school. They even went to the same college together. They took the same major and graduated together. Of course they were different in a lot of ways. Leticia was the risk taker and Amber always like to play things safe. Some of those risks, in the end, were like any other risk some twenty-something’s would take. Such as the time they went bungee jumping or when Leticia convinced Amber to go up in a hot air balloon. But, Leticia somehow found herself taking other risks – ones that were not so typical, such as the time she and Amber dated two men who were connected with the mob. And, so I was Amber pushing things all the time – to the limit and Amber following her friend.
On another occasion, they found themselves taking some big chances. They wound up being involved in activities that were illegal. They worked their way up and without ever having served a day in jail, the two women became fearless. So much so that it was no surprise that the two found themselves with a group who stole diamonds at posh jewelry stores. Leticia and Amber were smart and learned fast. They were good and it seemed that their run would last forever. Traveling the world, they were everywhere stealing prized jewelry – from Moscow, from Paris, from New York City, from the French Riviera; you name the place, they were there.
Oh, and this career of Leticia’s and Amber’s were not without its benefits. The two lived the high-life. Furs and diamonds, lots of cash, fast cars and handsome men who made were the best lovers that a gal could have for herself. Throughout it all Leticia and Amber were inseparable. It was a strength, but unknowingly, it was also a weakness.
On a cold, crisp October night, Leticia and Amber were invovled in a heist that went terribly wrong. This time they were in Montréal and like all heists, they were always given the name of a safe house. Still on the move, they were looking for Cuir et dentelle Hôtel et Casino (The Leather and Lace Hotel and Casino). It took them awhile to evade the police, but finally they were inside.
The Cuir et dentelle Hôtel et Casino was brightly lit and beautiful. Leticia and Amber were looking for a woman named Mademoiselle Charlotte. They both went to the front desk and asked a young lady for her. After about five minutes a curvaceous and very bosomy woman answered by that name....
...and said, "Quel est le mot de code?" Leticia answered, "Amoureux sur la Seine." With that response came a smile and in her heavy French accent Mademoiselle Charlotte brought them to a room in the back of the hotel.
Locking the door behind her, Ms. Charlotte sat them down in a room, a room much like an interrogation room. A beautiful maid entered from another door and looked at both women blushing and then handed two sets of manila folders to Ms. Charlotte. It was Ms. Charlotte sat them both down and opened up each folder.
With no time to read the twenty page or so document, Ms. Charlotte instructed them both to sign on this page, then that page, and this one and that one. Once finished, she spoke into a microphone on the desk, "Avez-infirmière Jacqueline venir ici maintenant." When the beautiful and curvaceous Nurse Jacqueline came into the room....
...she had a metal tray with two hypodermic needle.
"It is just a precaution," Ms. Charlotte annoucnced to the girls and with that Nurse Jaqueline administered each shot into the arms of Leticia and Amber.
In under a minute both women would be out cold….
Hours later, both Leticia and Amber found themselves waking up, chained to a cold stone floor. Their neck, wrists, and ankles shackled, a ball gag in each of their mouths. The walls were also made of stone and on one of the walls was a torch that provided the only light. The two could see that there were metal bars on one side. They were obviously in a dungeon cell of some kind. But why ? Weren’t they supposed to be in a safe house ? They were not arrested, right ? Then why were they here ?
In the distance, foot steps could be heard, hard against the stone floor, each step measured. Who was approaching ? Who ? There were many unanswered questions, some of which would be answered very, very soon….
